A private home health aide, or HHA, provides individualized care to a patient in their home. In this position, your responsibilities are to ensure that your client can remain at home by monitoring their vital signs, providing health care information to patients and their families, and assisting with general support, such as running errands or performing housekeeping duties. As a private caregiver, you typically work for an HHA agency or in a freelance capacity. Some HHAs work full-time in patients’ homes while other professionals visit clients daily to help with specific tasks, such as driving to medical appointments.
