The company works closely with insurance carriers and manages projects from emergency cleanup through full reconstruction. Position Overview We are seeking a Controller to report directly to the CFO and oversee the company's accounting and financial operations.

This role will own the accuracy of the financials, monthly close, reporting, internal controls, and accounting processes while helping build a scalable accounting function as the company continues to grow. The Controller will lead a team of three and partner closely with the CFO, operations, Project Managers, and newly acquired businesses. Key Responsibilities Own the monthly close and ensure accurate, timely, GAAP-compliant financial statements.

Oversee percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, WIP, job costing, and over/under billings. Review balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, AR aging, and AP activity. Prepare monthly financial statements and reporting packages for the CFO, board, and private equity sponsor.

Manage cash flow forecasting, including near-term and 13-week cash flow forecasts. Support lender reporting, borrowing base certificates, banking relationships, and covenant compliance as the company grows. Develop and maintain internal controls and segregation of duties.

Lead the annual external audit and serve as the primary contact for auditors. Own the chart of accounts and serve as the primary administrator for Sage Intacct. Improve accounting systems, automation, reporting, and workflows as the company scales.

Partner with the CFO on ERP and project management system integrations. Support financial due diligence for acquisitions. Lead post-acquisition accounting integrations, including moving acquired companies onto the company's ERP, chart of accounts, and internal control structure.

Oversee the integration of WIP, AR, AP, fixed assets, vendors, and payroll for acquired businesses. Partner with operations and Project Managers on project margin reviews, job costing, and identifying margin variances. Manage and develop the accounting team, including the Corporate Accountant, AR & Billing Coordinator, and Accounting Specialist.

Manage outsourced accounting services and transition functions in-house as the company grows. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA strongly preferred. 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role.

Experience with construction, restoration, or project-based services strongly preferred. Experience with percentage-of-completion accounting, WIP, job costing, and project margins preferred. Experience in a multi-location and/or private equity-backed environment preferred.

Proven experience integrating acquired companies onto a common ERP and chart of accounts. Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and audit processes. Experience with Sage Intacct or a similar ERP.

Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. Ability to work 100% onsite in Purcellville, VA with occasional travel as needed.

Why This Opportunity This is a key accounting leadership position with the opportunity to help build the infrastructure, processes, and controls for a growing, acquisition-focused organization. The Controller will have significant visibility with the CFO and leadership team and will play a hands-on role in the company's continued growth.
