Prior Authorization Specialist – Pharmacy Technician

About the job:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Prior Authorization Specialist – Pharmacy Technician to support patients, providers, and insurance partners through the medication prior authorization process. This role is essential to helping patients gain timely access to prescribed medications while ensuring accurate documentation, clear communication, and compliance with pharmacy industry standards.

The ideal candidate is organized, patient-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced healthcare environment. You will manage prior authorization requests, assist patients with questions, coordinate with healthcare providers and payers, and help improve workflow efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Quality Assurance and Process Improvement: Participate in quality assurance initiatives. Provide feedback to optimize the prior authorization workflow. Stay updated on insurance policies and industry developments.
  • KPIs Responsibilities; Patient turnaround time, other metrics.
  • Other assigned duties.

Minimum Qualifications

·         Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification from an accredited certifying body preferred.

·         Knowledge of pharmaceuticals, medical terminology, and the prior authorization process.

·         Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies.
