Familiarity with printmaking techniques (such as etching, lithography, or screen printing), as well as experience using presses, inks, and digital design software, is essential. These competencies ensure high-quality, original prints and the ability to troubleshoot technical challenges in the creative process.

What is printmaking?

Printmaking is an artistic process that involves transferring images from a matrix, such as a woodblock, metal plate, or screen, onto another surface, usually paper or fabric. The process allows artists to create multiple originals of a single image, known as prints, each considered an original work of art. There are various printmaking techniques, including relief, intaglio, lithography, and screen printing, each offering unique possibilities for artistic expression. Printmakers often experiment with color, texture, and layering to achieve diverse effects in their work.
