Summary
The Advanced Studio Assistant is accountable for advanced maintenance of Visual Art Center Studios and advanced assistance to faculty and students in those studios.
This student employment opportunity supports the development of skills aligned with the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Career Readiness Competencies. Through this role, students will strengthen the following competencies:
  • Communication: Students build communication skills by practicing clear, respectful, and professional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication in a workplace setting.

  • Technology: Students build technology skills by using department systems, software, digital tools, equipment, or university platforms to complete tasks accurately and efficiently.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assists Studio Manager with maintenance of studios and laboratories

  • Troubleshoots and provides assistance with a variety of advanced studio issues.
  • Assist faculty and staff with special projects and exhibitions.
  • Prints large documents for other departments throughout the university as needed
  • Performs related duties as assigned

Qualifications
MUST BE A STUDENT AT SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY
Must be Federal Work Study Eligible
Must Include a Resume and Cover Letter
  • Ability to work independently to identify, diagnose, resolve problems in a range of studios and communicate the problem and resolution to the appropriate stakeholder(s).
  • Minimum of four art or design courses required and be in good academic standing.
  • An advanced understanding of techniques and maintenance in at least three of the following studios: Ceramics, Laser, Wood, 3-D Printing, Painting, Printing, and Mac Lab.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Suite
  • Demonstrated skill in professional speaking, writing and visual communication
