Job description

Position Summary

The Production Manager is responsible for coordinating the production of print and mail and acting as a liaison between our internal account teams and external print and mail vendors to ensure accurate, on-time delivery of materials. You're the person who keeps dozens of jobs moving at once and keeps the process calm and consistent. Note: this is a temporary, seasonal position from July - November 2026.

Overall Responsibilities

  • Coordinate production schedules across multiple concurrent print and mail jobs
  • Send art and data files to printers and mail houses, ensuring specs, versions, and counts are correct before release
  • Review and approve printer proofs and data samples; catch errors before they reach press or mail
  • Maintain and update the production system so account teams and external vendors have accurate, current status on every job
  • Serve as the day-to-day point of contact between internal account teams and external print/mail vendors, resolving issues quickly
  • Track jobs against deadlines and proactively flag risks to timelines, postage, or quality
  • Coordinate with external vendors on postal requirements, postage, and delivery logistics to hit targeted in-home dates

  • Ability to stay calm under pressure in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent prioritization and organization skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to proactively anticipate problems before they happen, and reactively devise solutions when they arise
  • Clear, fast communicator comfortable coordinating across internal teams and with external vendors

Qualifications

  • Experience in print production, mail production, project management, or a related coordination role
  • Familiarity with the print and direct-mail process (proofing, press, variable data, mail houses, postal logistics) strongly preferred
  • Political/campaign mail experience a plus, but not required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat for reviewing proofs

Schedule & Work Environment

This position requires a willingness to work long and irregular hours, including weekends and evenings as required by workload, particularly in the weeks leading up to Election Day.
