Job description

Winpak Films is seeking a Printing Press Apprentice to join our Production team based out of Senoia, Georgia on a 12-hour rotating day shift (8a-8p).
In this role, you will support printing operations by preparing materials, assisting with press setup and changeovers, completing required quality checks, and helping maintain equipment and work areas.
You will work closely with Printing Operators and the Printing Manager to safely produce high-quality printed products while minimizing scrap and supporting production efficiency. This position provides hands-on experience and an opportunity to develop skills for continued growth within Printing and Production.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist Printing Operators with press setup, changeovers, and the preparation of materials needed for production.
  • Read and follow order paperwork, customer specifications, and special instructions to ensure production requirements are met.
  • Complete required quality checks and assist with monitoring the printing process to maintain product quality.
  • Prepare, stage, load, unload, label, and move materials, pallets, cores, boxes, sleeves, and other supplies needed for printing operations.
  • Assist with mounting, graphics, inkroom activities, ink dispensing, and the cleaning and auditing of Anilox rollers and sleeves.
  • Monitor ink viscosity and assist with ink preparation to support proper color and print quality.
  • Monitor raw materials and supplies to ensure adequate materials are available for current and upcoming production needs.
  • Track, weigh, and accurately report scrap while supporting efforts to minimize waste and maximize production rates.
  • Maintain clean and organized printing, inkroom, mounting, and general work areas.
  • Follow established safety procedures and immediately report safety hazards, equipment problems, or production concerns to the appropriate supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 6+ months of printing experience or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Ability to read and accurately use a tape measure.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn systems used to support production activities.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written work instructions, customer specifications, and production paperwork.
  • Ability to accurately complete required documentation and monitor gauges, equipment, materials, and production processes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Printing Operators, supervisors, and other departments.
  • Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the position, including frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and stair climbing.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in a printing, manufacturing, or production environment.
  • Experience assisting with printing presses, production equipment, or machine changeovers.
  • Experience handling inks, printing materials, sleeves, rollers, or other printing-related components.
  • Experience completing production quality checks and documentation.

Additional Details:
  • This position is for a rotating 12-hour day shift, working from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on a 2-2-3 rotating schedule.
  • This position is 100% onsite at our Senoia, Georgia facility.
  • The position requires approximately 80% standing and/or walking and 20% sitting.
  • The position requires lifting up to 50 pounds, frequent lifting and/or moving of objects up to 75 pounds, and occasional maneuvering of objects over 100 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, and stair climbing are required, with occasional reaching and squatting.
  • The manufacturing environment may include exposure to noise, moving machinery, hot surfaces, and chemicals.

Compensation range: $20 - $22 / hour
The compensation range provided is a general guideline only. Pay will be determined based on the candidate's experience and expertise and is subject to vary.
