Job description

About The Role
This seasonal UV Printing Operator role in our Manufacturing department is an hourly, full-time position focused on operating UV printing equipment to produce high-quality, personalized products. You will be a key part of our in-house customization process, setting up and running UV printers, monitoring print quality, and performing basic equipment maintenance. Working closely with the production team, you will help ensure each item is printed with care and precision, meets our quality standards, and is completed on time to support peak seasonal demand.
This position reports to the Manufacturing Supervisor. The pay rate is $21/hour. Must be available Monday through Friday, with weekend availability as needed. Expected hours: 32-40 per week
What You'll Do
  • Set up, operate, and monitor UV direct printing equipment to produce high-quality personalized products according to production specifications and schedules
  • Prepare print files and artwork for production, including importing, positioning, sizing, and aligning designs using relevant printing and design software
  • Load, align, and secure substrates or products (e.g., drinkware, promotional items, packaging, and other materials) on printing fixtures or jigs
  • Perform test prints, conduct visual inspections, and adjust printer settings (color, resolution, curing, alignment) to maintain consistent output quality
  • Inspect finished products for color accuracy, registration, curing quality, and overall appearance; identify and correct defects or issues
  • Follow established production workflows, work orders, and daily schedules to meet output and turnaround targets during peak seasonal periods
  • Perform routine cleaning, basic maintenance, and calibration of UV printers, curing lamps, and related equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation
  • Troubleshoot common printing issues such as banding, misalignment, color inconsistencies, and curing problems, escalating more complex issues when needed
  • Handle inks, coatings, and consumables safely, following all safety, handling, and storage procedures, including UV and chemical safety guidelines
  • Accurately record production counts, job details, and quality checks in logs or digital systems to maintain traceability and support process improvement
  • Collaborate with team members in manufacturing, design, and quality control to clarify specifications, resolve production challenges, and prioritize rush orders
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with company policies and OSHA or other applicable safety standards
  • Support cross-training and assist with related production tasks as needed to ensure overall workflow efficiency during the seasonal period

Qualifications
  • 1+ year of experience in a manufacturing, print production, or similar hands-on production environment
  • Prior experience operating UV direct printing equipment and controllers (e.g., Roland, Mimaki, or similar systems) strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of digital printing processes, including file setup, color management basics, and print queue management
  • Ability to set up, run, and adjust UV printing equipment and to perform basic troubleshooting of common print quality issues
  • Familiarity with print file preparation, including working with vector and raster artwork and ensuring correct sizing, orientation, and placement
  • Bonus: proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop (or similar design software) for basic artwork adjustments and print layout setup
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and safe handling of UV inks and materials
  • High attention to detail and quality, with the ability to visually detect print defects, color shifts, and registration issues
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven production environment, especially during peak seasonal demand
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move materials or product boxes as required (within reasonable weight limits), and perform repetitive tasks safely
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn production software, RIP software, and internal workflow systems
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work the scheduled full-time seasonal hours, which may include occasional overtime or weekend shifts based on business needs
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English and collaborate effectively with coworkers
