Job description

Department: Direct Print - Night Shift
Greiner Packaging is seeking a Direct Print Technician to join our team in Pittston TWP, Pennsylvania. This position is essential to maintaining smooth production operations at our manufacturing plant.
This position is responsible for assisting in the set up and running of Printing Machines and Print Department.
Main Responsibilities
  • Set up machines to run at optimum speed
  • Assist with the efficient running of the Department
  • Train Packers as per training plan, if needed
  • Carry out print and product changeovers on printing machines
  • Provide support to ensure machine efficiency targets are achieved (trouble-shooting)
  • Organize cover for breaks to optimum effect
  • Cover breaks to maximize machine hours, if necessary
  • Co-ordinate the set up and approval of new prints
  • Approve new prints when required
  • Operate machines as and when required
  • Carry out minor maintenance tasks
  • Minimize waste & scrap and record relevant data
  • Provide assistance and/or technical support to maintenance
  • Check print tooling and return to storage after production
  • Prepare and check changeover trolleys
  • Carry out First Off Verifications on Print
  • Establish optimum production speed for new products
  • Co-ordinate the set up and print approval of new prints
  • Update ink mix guide
  • Raise orders for printing department consumables weekly (i.e. ink, blanket, tape)
  • Report maintenance faults to the shift leader
  • Conduct Print verifications and perform quality checks.
  • Fill out Production Records

Housekeeping, Hygiene & Safety
  • Housekeeping of work areas / 5s
  • Clean specific machine components as required during changeover/Cleaning and inspecting carton packer if applicable
  • Ensure all Food Safety / Hygiene / GMP requirements are adhered to at all time to ensure high levels of product safety and quality.
  • Requires hand washing multiple times throughout a shift, including exposure to cleaning agents that may be harsh to the skin. (PPE Provided)

Teamwork, Involvement & Continuous Improvement
  • Organize cell/day to day decision making and support team members
  • Participation in team discussions and meetings, particularly at shift handover
  • Provide Mentoring to departments requirements
  • Carry out print and product changeovers on printing and decorating machines applying Synergy when able to
  • Overlap at shift change
  • Participations in projects or continuous improvement initiatives
  • Training of other operators as required
  • Fulfill all duties as outlined in department specific work instructions/procedures or the training matrix and other duties as required

Required Skills:
  • High School Diploma
  • Experience with printing plastics, strong technical/mechanical ability, self-motivated, great team worker, positive attitude.
  • Must be flexible to help wherever needed.
  • Two-year technical degree preferred.
  • Flexibility in relation to shifts
  • Technical proficiency
