The Opportunity
The Press Feeder Operator supports printing operations by preparing materials, operating feeder systems, and maintaining consistent production quality. In this role, you will review job tickets, ensure accurate ink and material usage, and collaborate with the press team to meet production goals. A typical day involves setting up feeder components, monitoring print quality, adjusting equipment for optimal performance, and completing production reports.
How you will impact Smurfit Westrock
- Review job tickets to determine sheet size, quantity, and correct ink specifications
- Verify ink matches job specifications in partnership with the second pressman
- Adjust feeder settings to achieve maximum production efficiency
- Mount printing plates and assist with press setup
- Monitor print quality continuously to ensure customer specifications are met
- Complete production and quality reporting accurately and on time
- Optimize feeder performance for production, quality, and safety standards
- Operate feeder console and auxiliary controls effectively
- Perform routine maintenance on press equipment
- Support team operations by completing additional duties as assigned
What you need to succeed
- Previous printing press experience
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 12 hours)
- Ability to work overtime to cover absences or vacation needs
- Ability to bend, twist, and kneel throughout the shift
- Manual dexterity to grasp, pull, and push materials
- Ability to work at or below shoulder level safely
