Job description

Rockstar is recruiting for a venture-backed Warfighter technology company that was forged from battlefield frustration. They build systems to give U.S. and allied Warfighters an unfair & decisive edge. Their flagship product, LADRS (Laser Aiming & Drone Remote System), addresses one of the most dangerous problems on the modern battlefield: cognitive overload. This is a ground-floor role for someone ready to grow with the company.
About the Role
The client is hiring a Mechanical Engineer to own the design, prototyping, and manufacturing handoff of mechanical components and assemblies for its drone and control systems, working hands-on across CAD, 3D-printed prototyping, and other production processes for large volumes. The role sits at the intersection of design and fabrication - this is not a pure-CAD position - requiring the engineer to build and iterate on physical prototypes in-house, generate manufacturing-ready drawings and BOMs, identify and manage vendors, and work closely with EE team members, technicians, and systems engineers to integrate mechanical designs into larger products.
Responsibilities
  • Design mechanical components and assemblies in CAD (Fusion) with manufacturability as a first-order constraint
  • Select and specify materials, fasteners, and off-the-shelf components
  • Design for and iterate through 3D-printed prototypes; transition designs to injection molding or other production processes as volume requires
  • Build, test, and iterate on physical prototypes in-house
  • Generate and maintain drawings, tolerances, and BOMs suitable for outside manufacturing partners
  • Integrate mechanical designs with PCB and electrical models provided by EE team members
  • Incorporate feedback from technicians on assembly, integration, and serviceability
  • Collaborate with electrical and systems engineers to integrate mechanical designs into larger products
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of mechanical engineering experience with a focus on design for manufacturing
  • Strong CAD skills (Autodesk Fusion; SolidWorks or similar acceptable)
  • Direct experience with 3D printing (FDM, SLA, etc.) and injection molding processes
  • Demonstrated hands-on fabrication experience - this is not a pure-CAD role
  • Comfortable working closely with EEs and technicians, incorporating their input into mechanical design
  • Familiarity with GD&T and formal drawing standards
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing for military or defense applications under military specifications (MIL-STD)
  • Experience selecting components and managing vendor/supplier relationships
  • Experience with sheet metal, machining, CNC, or composite layup
  • Prior U.S. military service, especially in Army, Marine Corps, Airborne, Ranger, SOF units (or any other relevant units)
  • Active or prior Secret clearance is a plus
About the Company
The company was forged from battlefield frustration: the technology built for the modern Warfighter kept creating the very problems it promised to solve. That's why they built LADRS (Laser Aiming & Drone Remote System), their answer to one of the most dangerous problems on the modern battlefield: cognitive overload. The company is a venture-backed Warfighter technology company, and LADRS is just the start. Everything they build is aimed at giving U.S. and allied Warfighters an unfair & decisive edge. This is a ground-floor role for someone ready to grow with the company.
Work Environment
  • The team believes in the mission: increasing the lethality and survivability of U.S. and allied Warfighters
  • Based at the company's offices in the Atlanta, GA metro area
  • Open to local or relocating candidates
  • Travel 5%-10% CONUS/OCONUS to customer sites, exercises, and industry events
Compensation
Compensation reflects a range of factors including relevant experience, education, certifications, specialized skills, geographic location, and business needs, and will be discussed during the interview process.
Benefits & Perks
  • Competitive pay and a real benefits package
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans
  • Equity grants for new hires
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Generous company holiday calendar
  • FSA
  • HSA

ITAR Compliance
To conform to U.S. Government defense technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), the candidate must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or otherwise eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
Equal Opportunity Statement
The company is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.
