POSITION SUMMARY
The Mechanical Assembler is responsible for assembling, fitting, and installing mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and finished assemblies according to drawings, work instructions, and specifications. This role supports production by ensuring that all assemblies meet quality, accuracy, and safety standards while contributing to smooth workflow operations on the shop floor.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
* The Mechanical Assembler reports directly to the Production Manager.
* Works collaboratively with Fabrication, Machining, Welding, Quality, and Engineering teams.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assembly & Production
* Assemble mechanical components, structures, and sub-assemblies based on prints, schematics, and verbal instructions.
* Use hand tools, power tools, fixtures, and measuring instruments to complete assembly tasks.
* Perform fitting operations, drilling, tapping, deburring, and fastening as required.
* Align and position parts using jigs, fixtures, or precision measurement tools.
* Perform basic machining or modification tasks as required for proper fit.
Quality & Documentation
* Ensure assemblies meet dimensional, functional, and quality requirements.
* Read and interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, and work orders.
* Record assembly data, work order completions, and any non-conformances.
* Communicate issues, discrepancies, or design conflicts to Production and Engineering.
Safety & Continuous Improvement
* Follow all company safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and tools.
* Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
* Participate in continuous improvement activities to improve assembly processes.
* Report unsafe conditions, equipment failures, or potential hazards immediately.
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
* Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of assembly processes.
* Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics.
* Ability to use hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, drills, and precision measuring devices (calipers, micrometers, squares).
* Good communication and teamwork skills.
* Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and manage time effectively.
REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATES AND EDUCATION
* High school diploma or equivalent required.
