Job Description
Lovibond, based in Sarasota, FL, seeks a Chemical Production Technician to become part of the Lovibond team and help us in our commitment to putting customers first by providing excellent service and great product experiences.
We are looking for a reliable candidate who is conscientious, and able to work well independently and as well as part of a team in a fast-paced laboratory setting. This is a role well suited to an ambitious professional, looking for the next step in their career.
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Senior Chemical Production Technician will be responsible for the day-to-day production and packaging of our proprietary liquid and powder chemical reagents, and microbial testing supplies to meet company production goals. To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty/key responsibility satisfactorily.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Effectively prioritizes daily tasks to meet the day to day scheduled production and productivity goals of the company for self and the chemical production technician.
  • Produce a quality product by following established SOP’s, interfacing with product, equipment, and team members in activities such as operation of chemical processes, packaging product and other operational activities as assigned.
  • Carry out the production and packaging of liquid and powder chemical reagents.
  • Manufacture and package microbial testing consumables.
  • Print and apply labels for chemical product bottles, vials, and other packaging.
  • Accurately and completely fill out required paperwork, including chemical production batch records, safety logs, and quality calibration logs.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate inventory supplies.
  • Master the usage of laboratory and manufacturing equipment operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Completion of quality control test results in a safe and timely fashion.
  • Ensure compliance to applicable regulatory/statutory or ISO requirements for new and existing products and materials.
  • Maintain and calibrate test equipment used in the laboratory, including pH/conductivity/temperature multi-meters, spectrophotometers, and turbidimeters.
  • Monitor raw materials and finished goods quality to ensure compliance to standards and specifications.
  • Participate in inspections, maintenance and troubleshooting to support manufacturing and testing processes and equipment.
  • Learn company ERP system to utilize BOM’s, create work orders, and report daily production.
  • Perform weekly checks of lab eye wash and safety shower stations.
  • Follow procedures for proper chemical storage and handling.
  • Monitor equipment’s’ condition and recognize when condition is outside the norm, taking appropriate corrective action including troubleshooting and basic repair.
  • Provide routine minor maintenance to process equipment and instrumentation.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects, making suggestions for changes to production and quality control processes.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work area by actively performing routine laboratory housekeeping activities, to include organizing, staging, and cleaning manufacturing equipment and production areas to improve productivity and cleanliness.
  • Participate in safety and quality training to promote a safe work environment and maintain compliance with training requirements.
  • Assists in the training of new employees.
  • Successfully completes all assigned training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Uphold Lovibond’s standards for quality and safety through continuous improvement activities and adherence to applicable environmental, safety and health regulations and policies.
  • This position requires consistent daily attendance to provide the necessary customer service.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Associate degree or college level chemistry, math, and physics courses successfully completed preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in chemical production or packaging required.
  • Minimum of 2 years working with liquid and/or powder filling equipment.
  • Experience with water quality testing procedures is a plus.

Skills and qualifications:
  • Sound organizational and data management skills, and ability to handle several responsibilities and work under tight time constraints to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision, paying close attention to detail and bearing independent responsibility for data accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software (especially Outlook and Excel) and database systems.
  • Able to operate a pallet jack.
  • Effective reading, writing, and communication skills.
  • Familiar and comfortable in a chemistry production laboratory setting.
  • Must be able to perform basic high school level mathematical functions.
  • Knowledge of Lovibond products or other related scientific products and services a plus
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to work at workstation for extended periods of time.
  • Must be capable of standing for a full shift (8 hours).
  • Visual acuity or corrective vision required for this position including close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
  • Ability to lift to 120lb with a hand truck.
  • Must adhere to all safety requirements including wearing of proper PPE.
  • Comfortable with exposure to various chemicals and compounds.
