Job description

Position Summary... What you'll do...The Principal UX Designer leads the development and enhancement of user experience strategies by conducting comprehensive research, including user interviews and journey mapping. This role collaborates closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to translate insights into innovative, user-centered design solutions that drive business value. The position requires expertise in prototyping, usability testing, and interaction design to ensure seamless and effective digital experiences. The Principal UX Designer also mentors team members, promotes continuous improvement, and supports organizational goals through clear communication and strategic influence across multiple business units.
About the team:
The Omni Services Design team is dedicated to enhancing how customers and associates engage with Walmart’s services by applying service design principles. The team creates seamless, integrated experiences across physical and digital channels, including discovery, scheduling, check-in, service delivery, payment, and follow-up. Focus areas include pharmacy, optical, auto care, and home services. Their work spans Walmart.com, the Walmart app, in-store touchpoints, operational processes, and associate tools. By combining customer insights, retail operations, digital product design, and service innovation, the team shapes the future of Walmart’s service experiences with a user-centered approach.
What you'll do:
  • Lead user experience strategy development through user interviews, surveys, and contextual inquiries to enhance interaction design.
  • Analyze and synthesize user research data to create user journeys, storyboards, and personas that inform design decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to align UX solutions with business objectives and technical requirements.
  • Design and prototype scalable interaction patterns and visual designs adhering to user-centered principles and platform guidelines.
  • Plan and conduct usability testing, iterating designs based on feedback to optimize user satisfaction and product effectiveness.
  • Drive research initiatives, evaluate findings, and communicate insights to influence product strategy and innovation.

  • Agentic Design & Emerging Tools: Experience using AI and agentic tools to explore, prototype, and build new experiences—learning quickly and adapting as tools, patterns, and customer expectations evolve.
  • Exceptional Craft & Service Design: Strong visual and interaction design craft with exceptional attention to detail, grounded in service design principles and an understanding of how experiences connect across digital, physical, and operational touchpoints.
  • Fast-Moving Product Development: Comfort working in fast-moving product pods—prototyping quickly, testing experiences in flight, learning from real customer feedback, and continuously refining releases as they scale.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
