Job description

The industrial sector generates more data than almost any other, and Seeq is on a mission to help customers use it all to make better decisions. We're the market leader in advanced analytics for process manufacturing, helping the world's largest companies in pharma, energy, chemicals, and more turn massive streams of time-series data into real operational impact. We're approaching $100M ARR, recognized as a Leader by industry analysts, and are accelerating our AI-first product strategy to redefine what Decision Intelligence means for industry.
Our UX design team works with product managers, developers, analytics engineers, clients, and end-users to conduct user research and provide interaction requirements and aesthetic direction to ensure accurate implementation of the designs. The core of Seeq's product is a full-featured calculation engine that can perform complex math and execute machine learning algorithms on streaming time series data.
As our Principal UX Designer, you will set the UX vision and strategy for key areas of the Seeq product, translating highly complex industrial analytics and AI capabilities into coherent, simple, and powerful experiences. You will influence product strategy, guide the work of other designers, and partner directly with product and engineering leadership to deliver a unified, insight-led experience across the platform.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Experience Vision & Strategy
Lead the definition and communication of a clear UX vision and multi-release experience roadmap for critical areas of the Seeq product, aligning teams around north-star experiences that simplify complex analytics and AI.
  • User-Centric Innovation at Scale
Drive a user-centered approach to product decisions by partnering with product managers, engineers, and analytics stakeholders to plan and execute research, synthesize insights, and define experience success metrics.
  • Simplicity in Complexity
Own end-to-end experiences that transform our full-featured calculation engine-capable of executing complex math and machine learning algorithms on streaming time series data-into effortless, trustworthy workflows for users.
  • Cross-Product Coherence
Ensure customers experience Seeq as a unified product rather than a patchwork of features by championing coherent interaction patterns, information architecture, and visual systems across product areas.
  • Craft & Practice Leadership
Elevate the UX practice by modeling best-in-class craft in research, interaction, and visual design; leading critiques and design reviews; mentoring designers; and helping the team move from reactive "just-in-time" work to proactive, strategic problem framing.
  • AI-Enabled Experiences
Lead the design of AI-powered and GenAI-enabled workflows, defining how AI is surfaced, explained, and trusted in the product, and ensuring that human-in-the-loop interactions feel intuitive and insight-led.
  • Executive & Customer Storytelling
Co-create with Product leadership compelling narratives and artifacts (e.g., "art of the possible" experiences, executive-ready flows and demos) that shape roadmaps, support top-down selling, and help customers understand what's possible with Seeq.
  • End-to-End Impact & Delivery
From ideation through multiple releases, be accountable for driving high-quality UX outcomes-ensuring design intent is carried through implementation, using data and feedback to iterate, and continually raising the bar for experience quality.

Requirements
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in user experience/user interface design (UX/UI), including lead responsibility for complex B2B or SaaS products.
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or certificate program in user experience design, human-computer interaction, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong, demonstrable experience conducting design work in a SaaS or other complex, data- or workflow-heavy product environment.
  • Proven track record of owning end-to-end experiences for mission-critical product areas-from discovery through multiple releases-with measurable impact on business and customer outcomes.

Strategy, Leadership & Vision
  • Demonstrated ability to elevate and mentor UX teams, setting standards for craft, leading critiques, and coaching designers to higher levels of impact and autonomy.
  • Opinionated about, and experienced in, UX craft in the era of GenAI-both using AI in design workflows and designing for AI as a core part of the product experience.
  • Experience defining and refining an experience vision that aligns with company growth areas and product strategy, and driving alignment to that vision across Product, Engineering, and Go-To-Market teams.
  • Committed to experience coherence across product areas, ensuring customers experience one product vs. a patchwork of features.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and collaborate with Product leadership on shared artifacts that illustrate our vision for customers and prospects (e.g., "art of the possible" scenarios, executive-ready journeys).
  • Strong advocate for UX best practices with the ability to contribute at any stage of the design process, producing high-quality UX artifacts and guiding teams toward best-practice approaches.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional settings while also operating with high autonomy and self-direction on complex, ambiguous problems.

Design & Technical Skills
  • Portfolio showcasing comprehensive design processes, including discovery/research, problem framing, ideation, prototyping, and final deliverables for complex products.
  • Demonstrated empathy for end-users, evidenced by user research involvement and implementations grounded in usability and behavioral insights.
  • Proficiency in creating user flows, wireframes, storyboards, mockups, and interactive prototypes to communicate design concepts to teams and stakeholders at varying levels of fidelity.
  • Expert with UI/UX design tools such as Figma, Sketch, and Adobe XD, with a willingness to learn and leverage advanced prototyping tools (e.g., Axure, Justinmind) when appropriate.
  • Experience using AI tools (Figma Make, v0, Lovable, etc.) to enhance UX design workflows and outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of design principles including grids, typography, color theory, hierarchy, layout, iconography, imagery, patterns, and systems.
  • Experience establishing or evolving design systems and pattern libraries that scale across multiple product areas.
  • Comfort with mathematical concepts, data visualization (e.g., bar charts, graphs), and understanding engineering language, especially in technical and data-driven domains.

Desired Requirements
  • Leads and actively shapes team activities, including standup meetings, design critiques, workshops, and other rituals-fostering a culture of constructive feedback and shared standards.
  • Actively seeks and integrates feedback from colleagues, stakeholders, and customers, modeling a growth mindset and data-informed decision making.
  • Proven ability to quickly master and design for complex, technical systems, especially in industrial, analytics, or other highly data-driven domains.
