Location: Remote with Periodic Travel to Fort Lee, VA (Hybrid as Needed)
Employment Type: Contract

Position Overview

Our government/defense industry client is seeking an experienced Principal SAP Retail Architect to lead the design and architecture of enterprise-scale SAP Retail solutions supporting a large retail modernization initiative. This highly visible role will focus on building scalable, secure, and integrated SAP Retail capabilities that improve inventory visibility, pricing accuracy, supply chain efficiency, and overall retail operations.

The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise across SAP S/4HANA Retail, Customer Activity Repository (CAR), omnichannel retail, POS integrations, pricing, inventory management, and enterprise architecture. This individual will work closely with business leaders, technical teams, and implementation partners to define long-term technology strategy and ensure successful solution delivery within a highly regulated environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior SAP Retail leader who enjoys designing complex enterprise solutions and driving large-scale digital transformation initiatives.

Key ResponsibilitiesSAP Retail Architecture & Solution Design
  • Design enterprise-wide SAP Retail architecture utilizing SAP S/4HANA Retail, CAR, omnichannel capabilities, POS, and related technologies.
  • Define architecture blueprints, integration strategies, and long-term technology roadmaps.
  • Lead solution design for:
    • Master Data Management
    • Pricing & Promotions
    • Inventory Management
    • Order Management
    • Omnichannel Retail Operations
  • Ensure solutions meet performance, scalability, security, and compliance requirements.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to translate operational needs into scalable SAP solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance throughout implementation.
  • Establish best practices, governance standards, and solution design principles.
Required Qualifications
  • Extensive SAP Retail architecture experience
  • Deep expertise with SAP S/4HANA Retail
  • Experience with SAP CAR (Customer Activity Repository)
  • Strong background in POS and Omnichannel Retail integrations
  • Experience designing enterprise integration architectures
  • Strong knowledge of inventory, pricing, promotions, and retail master data
  • Excellent stakeholder communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to lead enterprise architecture initiatives
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting government or highly regulated environments
  • SAP Architecture certifications
  • Experience with large enterprise retail transformation programs
