Job description

Principal Manager, Systems Innovation

Location: Pomona, CA (Hybrid)
Compensation: $230,000 - $250,000 Base Salary + 20% Bonus
Employment Type: Full-Time

SuperbTech is currently supporting a high-impact leadership opportunity within the utility and infrastructure modernization space. We are seeking a Principal Manager, Systems Innovation to help drive next-generation grid modernization, enterprise transformation, and utility systems innovation initiatives.

This role is ideal for a senior-level leader with deep experience across utility infrastructure, transmission/distribution modernization, AMI/communications systems, capital programs, enterprise transformation, and cross-functional technology leadership within regulated utility environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise modernization and grid innovation initiatives across utility operations and infrastructure programs
  • Drive technology roadmaps, transformation strategy, and large-scale modernization efforts
  • Partner with Engineering, Operations, IT, Cybersecurity, Regulatory, and Executive Leadership teams
  • Oversee major capital programs, infrastructure investments, and modernization portfolios
  • Support utility communications systems, AMI/network modernization, operational technologies, and enterprise integrations
  • Develop executive presentations, business cases, investment strategies, and operational roadmaps
  • Lead cross-functional teams, senior managers, vendors, consultants, and strategic partners
  • Drive operational excellence, governance, risk mitigation, and large-scale delivery execution

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience within utilities, infrastructure modernization, or enterprise transformation environments
  • Strong utility and grid modernization experience is required
  • Experience supporting transmission/distribution, AMI, utility communications systems, network modernization, or operational technology environments
  • Proven success leading large-scale capital projects, PMO transformation, or enterprise modernization initiatives
  • Experience working across Engineering, Operations, IT, Cybersecurity, and Regulatory teams
  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience with utility regulatory environments, infrastructure governance, and operational modernization strongly preferred
  • Backgrounds from electric utilities, gas utilities, energy infrastructure, grid modernization, AMI, telecom/network modernization, or utility operations technology highly preferred
