Job description

Job Title: Junior Graphic Designer                                                   Department: Marketing and Communications

Reports to: Marketing and Communications Manager          FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Salary: $20-25/hour, part time, 20 hrs per week

Job Summary:

YWCA Tulsa is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Junior Graphic Designer to assist in the day-to-day execution of our branding and marketing efforts. In this role, you will join our marketing team to design and execute both traditional print collateral and digital communications.

Only applicants living in Oklahoma will be reviewed. 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Content Creation & Adaptation

  • Design multi-channel assets including social media graphics, flyers, posters, email layouts, and digital ads.
  • Resize and adapt existing designs to fit various platforms, specifications, and formats.
  • Design iteration: Apply revisions to drafts based on team feedback and constructive critique.
  • Update marketing templates and existing collateral regularly with fresh information.

Brand Stewardship & Quality Control

  • Enforce style guidelines by strictly adhering to established brand colors, typography, and logos.
  • Proofread all layouts to ensure high technical accuracy, correct spelling, and visual consistency.
  • Apply design iterations to drafts efficiently based on team feedback and constructive critique.

Logistics, Publishing & Organization

  • Make website updates or post content directly to social media channels as needed.
  • Ready final files for website upload, social media posting, and professional commercial printing.

Manage the internal library to keep photos, logos, and active design files organized and accessible

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Expertise in using Adobe Creative Suite and Canva
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Teams for day-to-day collaboration, meetings, and workplace communication
  • Strong foundational sense of layout, color theory, typography, and visual balance.
  • Handle multiple assignments simultaneously while strictly meeting project deadlines.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with ticketing systems or project management platforms like Airtable to track creative requests and deadlines
  • Basic video editing or motion graphics skills
  • Experience with HTML/CSS or content management systems like WordPress or SquareSpace
  • Bilingual is preferred – Spanish or other languages

Education/Experience

  • 1-2 years of experience preferred
  • Portfolio showcasing school, volunteer, freelance, or personal design projects.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must live in or near the Tulsa, OK area with the ability to attend in-office meetings or events as needed.
  • Hybrid work is possible - can work in the Tulsa office or remotely.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Close visual acuity to review detailed graphics, check typography, and match brand color profiles accurately.
  • Manual dexterity needed to operate a computer, mouse, keyboard, and standard office equipment.
