Job description

Company Description
Join us and make YOUR mark on the World!
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) has turned bold ideas into world-changing impact advancing science and technology to strengthen U.S. security and promote global stability.
Our mission spans four critical national security areas nuclear deterrence, threat preparedness, energy security, and multi-domain defense empowering teams to take on the toughest challenges of today and tomorrow. With a culture built on innovation and operational excellence, LLNL is a place where your expertise can make a real impact.
Job Description
We have an opening for a Senior Primavera P6 Scheduler to support the Strategic Deterrence (SD) Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) initiative within nuclear and high hazard facilities. With minimal direction, you will independently perform scheduling and schedule analytics functions for complex, integrated project work that reflect project manager priorities, including integrating multiple projects with competing resource requirements. You will support moderate-sized program scheduling assignments, monitor progress toward milestones and key events, and develop reports, tools, and metrics to enable proactive decision-making. This position supports the SD Integrated Master Scheduling Program within the Strategic Deterrence Directorate.
This position offers a full-time off-site work schedule. You will collaborate and contribute through virtual interactions. Occasional on-site presence to meet business needs may be required.
This position will be filled at either level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.
You will
  • Develop, update, and maintain project schedules in Oracle Primavera P6, including WBS/activity setup, logic, durations, constraints, baselines, and progress updates.
  • Build and maintain program and project schedules that include appropriate lead times, realistic durations, major milestones, and deliverables from internal customers and vendors.
  • Coordinate with Integrated Project Teams, including project managers, to collect schedule inputs, validate scope, sequencing, durations, resource impacts, and milestone commitments, and provide scheduling guidance as needed.
  • Perform schedule analytics, including critical path, float, variance, slippage trends, milestone health, and key driver analysis.
  • Conduct "what-if" scenario analysis to evaluate sequencing and duration changes, quantify impacts, and support recovery planning.
  • Support re-planning and re-baselining when major schedule changes occur, including pre-rebaseline analysis and recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain scheduling products such as templates, fragnets, schedule baselines, schedule updates, schedule analysis, and standard and ad hoc reports.
  • Reconcile and validate data across inputs (project schedules, milestones, vendor deliverables), identify data quality issues, and drive closure with owners.
  • Develop, run, and maintain metrics and alerts that identify activity slippage and emerging risks, enabling proactive decisions before milestone impacts occur.
  • Integrate existing project schedules to produce roll-up summaries, dashboards, and reporting for program and project managers and leadership.
  • Communicate schedule status, drivers, risks, and impacts to project managers and stakeholders across multiple organizations.
  • Create and maintain repeatable data extracts, reporting templates, and improve reporting efficiency by reducing manual rework through standardization and automation where feasible.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional job responsibilities at the TSS.4 level
  • Lead, develop, and manage enterprise and integrated schedules for large, complex, interrelated work across multiple organizations.
  • Design, build, publish, and maintain dashboards that communicate schedule health, milestone performance, critical path drivers, forecast trends, and key risks to multiple stakeholder levels.
  • Lead the implementation of scheduling functions and modify approaches to reflect management priorities.
  • Guide and mentor other schedulers to ensure a consistent application of the IMS Program across laboratory directorates.
  • Translate stakeholder questions into structured analyses, document assumptions and methodology, and communicate clear findings and actionable insights.
  • Query data from backend sources using commonly used methods (e.g.: SQL, Power Query, APIs, or other database/reporting query interfaces) to research, analyze, and extract data for dashboards and business reports.
  • Define metrics/KPIs, perform variance and trend analysis, and develop alerts for early risk identification.
Qualifications
  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or an equivalent combination of education and related technical experience.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities under pressure, and stay organized in a team environment.
  • Working experience using Primavera P6 or similar software for scheduling and schedule analysis including Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling, Schedule Risk Assessments (SRAs), and developing schedules that integrate within a program to produce roll-up views.
  • Experience working with project managers and stakeholders across multiple organizations, analyzing schedules, and communicating status, drivers, and impacts.
  • Experience with regulatory or permitting requirements in hazardous or highly regulated industries (e.g.: environmental permitting, DOE nuclear safety basis).
  • Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and integration with costing databases, or comparable industry standard systems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe tools, including creating, analyzing, and producing schedule reports.
Additional qualifications at the TSS.4 level
  • Advanced experience using Primavera P6 or similar software for scheduling and schedule analysis, including administration and security profiles, and demonstrated subject matter expertise in integrated master scheduling, cross-organizational schedule integration, and advanced Critical Path Method analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience building clear, decision-oriented analytics and reporting (dashboards, metrics, scorecards, or executive summaries).
  • Experience defining metrics/KPIs, performing variance and trend analysis, and developing alerts for early risk identification.
  • Working knowledge of DOE nuclear safety basis implementation (e.g., Regulatory compliance, surveillances, configuration control) and high-hazard work planning and control processes, or equivalent experience in other regulated industries.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe tools, and industry-standard dashboard and reporting platforms, such as APEX and Power BI.
Qualifications We Desire
  • Nuclear facility maintenance and/or operations experience, including Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) use and familiarity with high hazard work planning and control processes.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of Outage, T-Week Operations, and/or Preventative Maintenance Schedules or similar.
  • Experience developing and using ETL processes, mapping data between databases and source systems, and querying backend data using SQL, Power Query, APIs, or similar tools to support dashboards, metrics, reporting, research, and analysis.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data validation, charting) and comfort working with large datasets.
