Job description

As an IT Project Manager within Ford's Enterprise Technology Group, you will play a pivotal role in the modernization of our supply chain and material flow operations. Ford is undergoing a major Supply Chain Transformation, and this position offers a unique, multi-faceted blend of project leadership and hands-on functional execution.
The core of this transformation is anchored by our intelligent inventory and automation strategy. You will manage IT projects that implement advanced automation solutions. You will be responsible for orchestrating deployments, ensuring that cross-functional teams remain aligned, accountable, and on track to deliver high-quality automation solutions on time.
This role is ideal for a proactive coordinator who is highly organized, proficient in utilizing Jira for agile project tracking, and eager to dive into functional systems-specifically maintaining our Cloud Label Management system, which is a critical operational component of our automated tracking and labeling ecosystem. By bridging the gap between project coordination and functional IT work, you will help deliver critical digital capabilities that optimize material flow from the receiving dock to the point of fit.
Responsibilities
  • Project Deployment & Delivery: Lead the planning, execution, and deployment of IT projects supporting all aspects of our intelligent inventory and automation strategy, ensuring all deliverables are met on time, within scope, and aligned with business objectives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with cross-functional teams to foster alignment, establish clear accountability, and resolve cross-team dependencies for automation initiatives.
  • Jira & Agile Management: Serve as the primary manager for project tracking in Jira; build and maintain backlogs, track sprints, monitor velocity, and configure boards/workflows to ensure transparent progress reporting for our intelligent inventory and automation portfolio.
  • Functional Cloud Label Management: Perform hands-on IT functional work within the Cloud Label Management system, ensure labeling systems seamlessly integrate with overall intelligent inventory vision.
  • Accountability & Tracking: Establish detailed project timelines, milestones, and KPIs for deployments; proactively identify risks, issues, and bottlenecks, implementing mitigation plans to keep critical path items on schedule.
  • Testing & Deployment Support: Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), pilot deployments, and system rollouts of automation and intelligent inventory technologies in manufacturing environments, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal operational disruption.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Facilitate regular status meetings, deliver progress reports to leadership, and translate technical execution metrics of our automation strategy into clear business value.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Project Management, or a related technical field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in project management and deployments, preferably within a manufacturing, logistics, or supply chain environment.
  • Proven track record of coordinating cross-functional teams, driving accountability, and delivering complex projects on schedule.
  • Deep, hands-on experience utilizing and managing Jira (or equivalent Agile project management tools) to track sprints, manage backlogs, and report progress.
  • Demonstrated experience performing functional IT tasks, software configuration, or application support (such as configuring business rules, template design, or system administration).
  • Strong interest and familiarity with automation concepts, smart warehousing, or intelligent inventory systems.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and negotiation skills, with experience working effectively across cross-functional and global teams.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a self-motivated, "can-do" attitude toward learning and managing new technologies.
