Summary:
A Machine Preventive Maintenance (PM) Technician is a developmental position within a Customer Support Department assigned to a functional team or region and is responsible for basic mechanical maintenance, and repair needs of customer equipment. The primary requirement is to have the background and aptitude to learn the skills to support customer equipment while developing and maintaining proper business relationships with customers and peers, as well as performing necessary administrative duties as required, and other duties as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Complete 10-week assigned familiarization and development classes, and OJT training assignments.
  • Develop knowledge in the principles of Makino-specific machine tool assembly, operation, and maintenance including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, control logic, and servo control systems.
  • Refine skills needed to write clear, complete, and detailed service reports, installation reports, and expense management documentation.
  • Demonstrate capability in basic mechanical repairs, maintenance activities, and completing Preventive Maintenance activities troubleshooting, and repair using test equipment such as volt meters, amp meters, and other gauges and fixtures.
  • Demonstrate the capability of reading and interpreting basic schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Maintain daily communications with customers to ensure resolution and proper follow-up.
  • Maintain tools and test equipment and ensure they are properly calibrated.
  • Develop information literacy by effectively utilizing company databases, including ServiceDoc, MILK, KnowledgeBase, EDM Digital Library, Metrix/FSM, and SAP.
  • Develop digital literacy by understanding and utilizing basic concepts of computing, networking, augmented reality, and multimedia to communicate across all available platforms effectively.
  • Maintain responsibility for assigned equipment and communication on timely return

Qualifications:
The following qualifications are the minimum requirements necessary to successfully perform this role. However, any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training, which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities, would be acceptable, subject to any legal and/or regulatory requirements.

Education and/or Experience:
  • Military experience in a technical field (electro-hydraulic or mechatronic equipment.
  • Hands-on (hobbies or work-related) mechanical experience working on and troubleshooting Equipment, Automobiles, etc.
  • Work towards a trade certificate, Apprenticeship, or experience in a related field.

Certifications/Licenses/Registrations:
  • Able to travel for training.
  • Valid Driver's License
