Job Title: Press AssistantJob DescriptionAs a Press Assistant, you will be responsible for maintaining proper market identification and ensuring the correct counts throughout press runs. You will operate and maintain robotic equipment and stacker machines, while ensuring the overall quality of skids. Reporting any print defects to supervisors and coordinating paper waste removal are also key aspects of this role. Additionally, you will assist in webbing up the printing press and keep the presses stocked with necessary supplies. Your role will involve various tasks such as removing waste ink, cleaning press water systems, and performing preventive maintenance assignments.
Responsibilities
- Maintain proper market identification and check mastheads and skid tickets.
- Operate and maintain robotic equipment and stacker machines.
- Stack signatures and maintain overall quality of skids.
- Identify and report print defects to the appropriate personnel.
- Coordinate paper waste removal in the pressroom.
- Complete work assignments during make-readies and other press downtime situations.
- Assist with the webbing up of the printing press.
- Keep presses stocked with needed supplies.
- Assist with removal of waste ink, used printing plates, and press side garbage.
- Assist with changing slip-sheets at the printing units.
- Assist with manual signature stacking when needed.
- Assist with cleaning press water systems and changing filters.
- Perform Press Operator responsibilities when needed.
- Complete preventive maintenance assignments and initiate work orders.
- Develop job skills and equipment knowledge for level advancement.
- Monitor product waste.

Additional Skills & Qualifications- Ability to stand, walk, and use hands frequently.
- Capability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.

Work Environment
Work is conducted on a Dupont Schedule with shifts from 7am-7pm and 7pm-7am. The environment involves exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, and chemicals that require special handling. The noise level is usually loud, and tasks may involve working at high places or with electrical equipment. Safety measures and reasonable accommodations are in place to ensure a secure working environment.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.90 - $18.90/hr.
