Job description

The Tri-City Storm and Viaero Center are looking for an entrepreneurial executive to lead one of the USHL's premier hockey franchises and Central Nebraska's top sports and entertainment venue. This is a rare opportunity to shape both an iconic hockey brand and a regional destination driving revenue, building community, and delivering results.
Reporting directly to ownership, you'll have the authority and accountability to build something meaningful: a high-performing team, a thriving venue, and a franchise that punches above its weight.
Key Responsibilities
Revenue & Business Development

  • Lead all ticket sales initiatives including season, group, suite, and premium sales.
  • Develop and execute sponsorship and advertising strategies.
  • Increase non-hockey event bookings and venue utilization.
  • Grow corporate partnerships and regional business relationships.
  • Support merchandising, concessions, and ancillary revenue growth.

Leadership & Staffing
  • Recruit, develop, and manage a high-performing staff culture.
  • Create accountability systems and departmental reporting structures.
  • Lead weekly management meetings and operational planning.
  • Collaborate closely with hockey operations leadership including the Head Coach and President of Hockey Operations.

Financial Management
  • Develop annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Deliver regular reporting and KPI dashboards to ownership.
  • Monitor profitability, cash flow, staffing costs, and event performance.
  • Identify operational efficiencies and margin improvement opportunities.

Community & Engagement
  • Serve as the public face of the Storm and Viaero Center in the Kearney community.
  • Build relationships with sponsors, schools, civic organizations, local businesses, and regional tourism partners.
  • Help establish the Viaero Center as a true regional destination for sports and entertainment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 5-10+ years in sports, entertainment, venue, or event management.
  • A track record of leading revenue-generating business operations.
  • Experience in ticket sales, sponsorships, and/or facility management.
  • Strong financial acumen and reporting skills.
  • Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams.
  • Experience working with ownership groups or boards preferred.
  • Arena, hockey, minor league sports, or venue management experience strongly preferred.

Who You Are
You are entrepreneurial, community-minded, and just as comfortable building strategy as rolling up your
sleeves. You hold yourself and your team accountable, and you thrive in fast-moving environments where
every day looks a little different.
How We Measure Success
  • Attendance and sponsorship revenue growth
  • Increased event utilization and bookings
  • Stronger financial controls and reporting
  • Elevated guest experience and satisfaction
  • Improved staff retention and accountability
  • Growth in community and regional engagement
  • Long-term franchise and venue value creation

We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, gender identity, marital or veteran status, or any other protected class.
