The Vice President, Marketing & Design is a senior leader responsible for shaping and executing Altium's marketing, design, and innovation strategy to drive long-term, sustainable growth.
This role leads through the strategic use of technology and data-modern marketing platforms, analytics, automation, and digital design tools-to improve speed to market, strengthen brand execution, and scale innovation across marketing, product design, and packaging.
Partnering closely with Sales, Customer Experience, Engineering, and Manufacturing, the VP ensures tight cross-functional integration from concept through commercialization. The position also oversees Studio PKG-the creative and technical engine behind product design, intellectual property development, and market-forward innovation.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Vision
  • Identify emerging trends, technologies, and materials in plastics manufacturing, packaging, and product design to maintain competitive advantage.

  • Define and lead the long-term vision, strategy, and roadmap for Studio PKG, aligning design, innovation, and engineering capabilities with company objectives.

  • Serve as an executive thought leader for product innovation, packaging development, and design excellence across all business units.

Design & Innovation Oversight
  • Lead all design and engineering design activities related to new product development, packaging solutions, and innovation initiatives.
  • Ensure designs balance aesthetics, functionality, manufacturability, cost efficiency, sustainability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Partner closely with Manufacturing, R&D, Quality, and Operations to ensure seamless transition from concept to production.

Intellectual Property & Patent Management
  • Provide executive oversight of design driven intellectual property, including patents housed within Studio PKG.

  • Partner with Legal and Engineering teams to guide patent strategy, invention disclosures, and protection of proprietary designs and processes.

Marketing & Brand Integration
  • Provide leadership over the Marketing function, driving growth-related activities through technologies and data-driven decisions.

  • Ensure strong alignment between product design, packaging innovation, and marketing strategies to create cohesive brand and customer experiences.

  • Oversee teams supporting marketing execution, including marketing specialists, lead generation analytics, and graphic design functions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Act as a key partner to executive leadership, Sales, Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain to support customer-driven solutions and market strategy.

  • Champion collaboration across design, engineering, and marketing to shorten development cycles and improve go-to-market effectiveness.

Team Leadership & Development
  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing, multidisciplinary team across design, engineering design, and marketing.

  • Establish clear goals, performance expectations, and development pathways for leaders and teams within Studio PKG.

  • Foster a culture of creativity, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Governance & Performance
  • Own the Studio PKG resource planning.

  • Establish KPIs and metrics to evaluate innovation effectiveness, design quality, speed to market, and ROI.

  • Ensure Studio PKG operates with strong governance, prioritization, and alignment to business needs.

  • Reasonable mandatory overtime may be required due to business needs.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Packaging Science, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in marketing innovation, product design, packaging, engineering design, or related functions within manufacturing.

  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams that span marketing, engineering, and design.

  • Strong understanding of plastics manufacturing, packaging development, and product lifecycle management.

  • Proven ability to translate innovation and design strategy into commercial and operational results.

  • Executive presence with strong influencing and stakeholder management skills.

  • Experience overseeing or partnering on intellectual property and patent development.

  • Ability to balance creative vision with operational discipline and scalability.
