Job Title: Sr. Product Development Manager
Salary Status: DOE
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Employment Type: Full-Time
Location: Fontana, CA
Reports to: VP of Engineering amp; Product Development
Job Overview:
Sr. Product Development Manager with the ability to manage amp; support new projects and intiatives associated with New Product Development. This will be a leadership minded individual that is responsible for NPD Capital Project Management, Departmental Effiency Improvement, Departmental Supervision, Training and Reporting. Typical NPD work will vary in scope ranging from feasibility analysis and costing to leadership of full capital projects. The ideal candidate will be able to handle multiple projects through utilization of time management and project management techniques. This candidate should have a strong technical backgroun in the area of blow-molding (2-step knowledge is ideal). The ideal candidate should thrive on innovation and possess a desire to join a collaborative organization driven by continuous improvement. This person should be prepared adhere to standard forms and procedures.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Provide cross functional leadership to drive project success
  • Supervisory duties within the department to drive efficiency and effectiveness
  • Identify and suggest opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Work with leadership to create and implement training materials (departmental, interdepartmental and cross functional)
  • Work with Sales, Operations, Engineering and the Commercial teams to identify areas of growth
  • Manage design, prototyping, and testing of new products to ensure they meet guidelines and standards for functionality and consumer demands
  • Coordinate projects and teams; maintain schedules, track deliverables
  • Provide regular reporting to management and stakeholders in regard to New Product Development projects and initiatives
  • Develops amp; communicates timeline, project budget and scope of all assigned projects
  • Track project activities and spend against the project plan and budget
  • Notify the project team with project agendas, upcoming meetings and subsequent minutes of the meeting.
  • Provide day-to-day supervisory direction, and workload distribution to team members to ensure project milestones are achieved.
  • Monitor compliance with systems, standards and procedures
  • Ensure issues are captured, tracked and resolved in a timely fashion
  • Collaborates with VP of Engineering amp; Product Development to develop ownership of project plan: Including scope documentation, risk management, definition of success criteria, project objectives and timing
  • Supports the project team by utilizing the necessary project systems and tools
Minimum Requirements:
  • 8+ years of Project Management experience managing small, medium, and large scale projects
  • Strong understanding of design and development process. Experienced in the use of various available software and/or blueprint interpretations
  • Successful experience in promoting sales/customer involvement and relationship development; proven track record of exceeding expectations
  • Exceptional communication skills; ability to articulate within verbal and written mediums; encourages and supports problem escalation; promotes good working relationships across the project; supports building consensus.
  • Strong reporting, organization and problem-solving skills; ability to drive accountability
  • Ability to work cross functionally within a team-based environment
  • Willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
  • Proven ability to multitask and perform well under pressure
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project
Preferred traits and skills:
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred
  • Plastics, Manufacturing, and/or Packaging Industries preferred
  • Strong time management and communication skills (formal training a plus)
  • Experience with CAD is a plus (SolidWorks, AutoCad, etc)
Education/Experience:
  • B.S. degree in Business or Engineering preferred (equivalent work experience will be considered)
  • Bilingual in English/Mandarin Chinese a plus
