Position Summary

With guidance from the VP/Banking Operations Manager, The Banking Operations Lead is responsible for supporting the management of the Operations team. This position will drive strategic initiatives and internal improvements; including monitoring of systems, developing, and implementing enhancements that improve the overall efficiency of HBM banking operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the Bank’s electronic and cash management-based products and services, including their development, deployment, and ongoing maintenance in partnership with the Banking Operations Manager.
  • Partner with account and business development officers to support the sales and onboarding of electronic banking solutions and provide training to internal teams.
  • Support the Operations Manager at oversee departmental operations, supervises staff, coordinates vendor relationships, and ensures regulatory compliance across all banking activities.
  • Provide strategic leadership, technical expertise, and a strong focus on process improvement to drive innovation and operational excellence in the Bank’s digital channels in partnership with the Banking Operations Manager.
  • Support strategic and tactical oversight of daily operations for the department, including statement rendering, large-dollar verifications, bank-by-mail, wires, ACH, returned items, deposited item returns, cash settlements, ATM settlements, cash orders, and IRA processing.
  • Monitor and analyze dormant accounts, ensuring compliance with escheatment laws and internal procedures.
  • Research and respond to subpoenas, legal requests, and customer inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Manage the processing of returned mail and oversee skip tracing functions; ensure accurate documentation and secure storage of deposit records in accordance with the Bank’s record retention policies.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of key operational systems and their direct and indirect impact on the Bank’s operations.
  • Assess, design, and implement workflow and system enhancements to improve operational efficiency and identify gaps across Electronic, Deposit and Loan Operations in partnership with the Banking Operations Manager.
  • Participate in and oversee product development initiatives from an operational perspective, including integration with other departments and ensuring alignment with operational capabilities.
  • Coordinate and prepare documentation for Federal and State examinations and external audits; ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Serve as an active member of the IT Committee and other organizational committees as required, providing subject matter expertise on operational initiatives and technology integration.
  • Comply with all federal and state regulations impacting banking operations and complete all mandatory risk and compliance training.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of federal and state banking regulations applicable to operations, including BSA/AML, OFAC, and escheatment laws.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in banking operations with a focus on deposit and electronic-based financial services.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role within a financial institution.

Preferred:

  • Experience with community or regional banking environments.
  • Prior involvement in system conversions, technology upgrades, or process reengineering initiatives.
  • Certifications such as Accredited ACH Professional (AAP), Certified Treasury Professional (CTP), or Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS).
