Job description

Join the team at Prescott’s, Inc. — where quality meets care.

Prescott’s is a leading medical device services company, trusted by healthcare professionals across the country. We specialize in the distribution and expert refurbishment of essential medical equipment, including sterilizers, surgical microscopes, pumps, monitors, anesthesia machines, and more. Our mission is to enhance the quality of healthcare by ensuring providers have access to reliable, high-performing equipment. If you're passionate about supporting the frontlines of care through innovation and service, we’d love to have you on our team.

This position will be supporting Prescott's Inc and will be hybrid at our Kansas City, MO or Monument, CO location.

The Tax Specialist is a newly created role supporting Prescott's finance transformation. This position is the operational backbone of the company's tax compliance and treasury functions — two areas that have historically rested entirely on one senior leader. As Prescott's scales and the finance organization restructures, this role will absorb the day-to-day execution of all State and Local Sales tax filings and compliance as well as some treasury operations across all entities.

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented finance professional who thrives in a multi-entity, high-accountability environment. You will work directly with the Divisional Controller and the CFO on time-sensitive deadlines — tax filings, banking transitions, and ERP implementation — from day one.

Tax Compliance & Reporting

• Support sales tax compliance across multi-state operations for all entities including reconciliations and registrations

• Assist with the preparation of supporting schedules for federal, state, and local tax income & franchise returns for all entities

• Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors; prepare supporting schedules and workpapers

• Maintain tax calendars; track all filing deadlines across jurisdictions

• Research and apply tax regulations relevant to medical device distribution and service businesses

• Monitor changes in tax law and assess impact on Prescott's Medical entities

Treasury & Cash Management

• Execute cash positioning, funding, and wire transfers across all bank accounts

• Manage banking relationships; serve as primary operational contact for all banking partners

• Support the ongoing bank transition — a current priority requiring immediate hands-on involvement

• Prepare weekly cash flow forecasts and variance analysis; report to Divisional Controller

• Maintain and reconcile all treasury accounts; ensure accuracy of bank reconciliations

• Monitor and manage investment of idle cash in accordance with company policy

ERP & Systems Support

• Participate in the ERP implementation project as the Finance lead for tax and treasury workstreams

• Lead the Avalara implementations for the entities not currently using Avalara in conjunction with their ERP implementations

• Configure and validate tax codes, banking integrations, and chart of accounts mappings in the ERP

• Document treasury and tax procedures in the new system environment

Reporting & Controls

• Maintain documentation of tax positions, elections, and compliance history

• Review and reconcile sales tax returns for all entities

• Prepare monthly treasury reports for leadership: cash balances, liquidity, debt service

• Support internal controls over treasury operations — dual authorization, segregation of duties

• Assist with year-end close activities related to tax provisions and deferred tax schedules

Requirements

Required

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 5+ years of experience in tax compliance in private or public accounting
  • Experience with multi-entity or multi-state tax compliance
  • Working knowledge of multi-state sales tax filing requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail; proven ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
  • Effective communicator — comfortable working directly with senior leaders and external advisors

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business or related field
  • CPA license or active CPA candidate
  • Exposure to banking operations, cash management, or treasury systems
  • Background in healthcare, medical equipment, or distribution industry
  • Experience with accounting/ERP systems, specifically NetSuite and Avalara
  • ERP implementation experience (any platform)

Benefits

What we offer:

At Prescott’s, we prioritize your well-being and growth with a comprehensive benefits package including:

  • Compensation of $68,000 - $72,000 per year
  • Paid time off
  • Healthcare insurance (medical dental, and vision coverage)
  • Accident insurance, critical illness, and hospital indemnity insurance
  • Short term (employee paid) and long-term disability (employer paid)
  • 401K plan with company matching
  • Continuous learning and development - offering opportunities for training, workshops, and certifications
  • Our fun and inclusive work environment celebrates diversity and fosters growth, making every day an opportunity to thrive
