Are you an experienced commercial printing leader with a passion for developing people, driving operational excellence, and producing exceptional print quality? We're looking for a Press Manager to lead our press operation which includes three web offset presses and one sheetfed press, providing an exciting opportunity to lead a diverse, high-performing commercial print department.


This leadership role is responsible for the overall performance of our press department, including developing supervisors and press crews, optimizing production, improving efficiencies, and partnering with Scheduling, Prepress, Finishing, Maintenance, and Quality to deliver outstanding results for our customers. The ideal candidate is an experienced commercial print leader who understands the demands of a fast-paced pressroom and has successfully led teams in a web offset, sheetfed, or mixed press environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily workflow and overall performance of the press department, including web offset and sheetfed press operations.
  • Leads, coaches, and develops Press Supervisors to strengthen leadership effectiveness, employee engagement, accountability, and team performance. 
  • Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for supervisors and department personnel. 
  • Develop and execute operational strategies that improve press performance, reduce downtime, minimize waste, and maximize throughput. 
  • Ensure compliance with customer specifications, print quality standards, and company operating procedures. 
  • Drive department performance by monitoring and improving safety, quality, productivity, waste, equipment utilization, and labor efficiency. 
  • Partner with Scheduling, Prepress, Finishing, Maintenance, and Quality to ensure efficient workflow, on-time delivery, and exceptional customer satisfaction. 
  • Collaborate with Maintenance to improve preventative maintenance planning, equipment reliability, and overall press uptime. 
  • Champion workplace safety by promoting safe work practices and ensuring compliance with all company safety and environmental policies. 
  • Evaluate department performance using production metrics and implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives as needed. Conduct performance evaluations and supports individual development planning for supervisors and employees. 
  • Manage staffing, workforce planning, and employee development to support current and future business needs. 
  • Serve as the department's operational leader, providing technical guidance and support for complex production challenges. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in commercial printing is required. 
  • Previous experience managing or supervising web offset, sheetfed, or a combination of both in a commercial printing environment.
  • Strong understanding of commercial print manufacturing, including press operations, print quality standards, color consistency, workflow optimization, and production planning. 
  • Demonstrated success leading supervisors and production teams while driving safety, quality, productivity, and employee engagement. 
  • Experience collaborating across Scheduling, Prepress, Finishing, Maintenance, and other production support functions.
  • Experience using production metrics to improve operational performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Proven ability to build, coach, and develop high-performing leadership teams. 
  • Strong decision-making, communication, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
