Job Summary

The Senior / Lead Digital Press Operator is responsible for independently operating and optimizing high-speed digital printing equipment in a commercial production environment. This role is designed for experienced operators capable of running complex jobs, maintaining strict color standards, troubleshooting equipment issues, and supporting overall production efficiency. The operator manages production on Fujifilm Revoria toner presses and Fujifilm J Press inkjet presses while maintaining consistent color accuracy, substrate compatibility, and throughput targets. This position requires strong expertise in digital press workflows, color management, mechanical troubleshooting, and coordination with prepress, scheduling, and finishing teams.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Independently set up, program, and operate Fujifilm Revoria and Fujifilm J Press digital presses for commercial production jobs.

· Interpret job tickets, proofs, substrate specifications, and finishing requirements to ensure accurate press setup.

· Manage press calibration, color consistency, and substrate profiles across a wide range of materials.

· Monitor press performance and adjust color density, registration, image alignment, and other parameters to maintain print quality.

· Troubleshoot production issues including paper feeding problems, image defects, streaking, banding, or color shifts.

· Coordinate with prepress and scheduling teams to maintain efficient job flow and production timelines.

· Verify printed output against proofs and customer specifications to ensure compliance with quality standards.

· Assist with workflow optimization and support continuous improvement initiatives within the digital press department.

· Perform daily, weekly, and scheduled preventative maintenance to ensure optimal press performance and uptime.

· Train or mentor junior operators and support cross-training across the digital production team.

· Monitor consumable levels including substrates, inks, and toners and communicate inventory needs to production management.

· Maintain accurate production records and support reporting of throughput, waste, and operational metrics.

Requirements:Qualifications – Education, Experience, License/Certifications:

Minimum 3–5 years of experience operating digital printing presses in a commercial print production environment.

Demonstrated ability to independently run complex digital press jobs and manage production output.

Strong mechanical troubleshooting ability related to digital press equipment.

Advanced understanding of print quality control and color consistency.

Ability to read and interpret job tickets, production schedules, and print specifications.

Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Fuji Revoria Experience:

Experience operating Fuji Revoria digital presses in a commercial production environment.

Ability to configure press settings for coated, uncoated, synthetics, and specialty substrates.

Experience adjusting image density, color balance, front-to-back registration, and alignment.

Knowledge of Revoria calibration and color stabilization procedures.

Ability to troubleshoot press issues including paper feed errors, density variation, image defects, and substrate curl.

J Press Inkjet Experience:

Experience operating Fujifilm J Press inkjet presses preferred.

Understanding of water-based inkjet technology and substrate compatibility.

Ability to manage ink density, drying parameters, and printhead maintenance.

Ability to identify and correct inkjet defects including banding, nozzle dropout, and ink spread.

Digital Workflow & RIP Systems:

Experience working with Print Factory and RIP (Cyan Fix) workflows used with high-speed digital presses.

Ability to release and manage production jobs through digital workflow systems.

Familiarity with imposition, variable data printing workflows, and substrate profile libraries.

Color Management:

Experience maintaining consistent color output across production runs.

Ability to calibrate presses and verify color against proofs or color targets.

Familiarity with industry color standards such as G7, ICC profiles, or equivalent color management processes.


Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

This position operates within a commercial print production facility. The role requires standing for extended periods, operating industrial printing equipment, and handling paper cartons or substrates. Noise levels are typical of manufacturing environments.


Compensation:

The base compensation range for this full-time position is $25-$32 per hour plus benefits. Compensation ranges are determined by various factors, including role, experience, and location.
