Position Summary

Plans, coordinates and presents one or more of the following: Prenatal, Lamaze or other Childbirth Education related

programs for pregnant customers/families and outside groups. Works with others in presenting programs to meet

requirement of regulatory agencies. Adheres to Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare's performance expectations and

performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Wheaton

Franciscan Healthcare.

Principal Accountabilities and Essential Functions of the Job

Major Areas of Responsibility/Essential Function % of Time

1. Provides educational instruction in collaboration with the Patient Care Manager.

Demonstrates expert knowledge of established program curriculum according to standards.

Prepares class materials and teaching/learning aids as needed.

Ensures sufficient quantity of materials and supplies for each class.

Delivers/presents educational experiences within areas of expertise using appropriate technology, strategies and resources that engage learners and either directly or indirectly develop competence.

Maintains content integrity to be in accordance with established guidelines of structured class.

Modifies educational plan or delivery based on changing environment, technology or participant abilities.

Provides feedback to Patient Care Manager on learner participation and effectiveness of methods and materials used for each educational offering.

Reports concerns as appropriate. 90

2. Maintains accurate records.

Compiles records of attendance, competency assessment and continuing education programs and delivers to Patient Care Manager.

Collects fees. 10

3. Adheres to all safety, infection control and employee health policies and procedures.

Attends required safety programs.

Appropriately and consistently uses the personal protective equipment required of the job.

Knows and can demonstrate departmental emergency procedures for fire, disaster and other emergency situations.

Reports and removes unsafe equipment/furniture.

Asks for assistance when needed to assure safety for all involved.

Maintains a safe working environment and practices safe working habits

Education and Experience:

Basic Skill Set 0 - 2 years - Previous teaching experience preferred.
