Preconstruction Manager-Prism Electric

Job Details:

The successful Preconstruction Manager works closely with the Project Manager and owner during the design phase of design-build, design-assist, and integrated projects and coordinates other preconstruction resources as required for the delivery of a successful project. This position is the key interface between the preconstruction group and the operations group on such projects and is responsible for designing and developing value-added technical pricing and design solutions from concept through completion of detailed drawings.

Responsibilities:

  • Initiate and maintain contact with GC and A/E contacts to facilitate successful preconstruction process
  • Responsible for the preparation of preliminary, schematic, design development, and construction document estimates and studies during preconstruction
  • Responsible for the accuracy of all estimates
  • Continuously monitors cost trends to detect over-runs and potential problem areas during preconstruction phases.
  • Participates in design decisions, evaluations, studies, value engineering, value analysis, scheduling, and constructability reviews etc.
  • Assure that the estimates, including general conditions, are accurate, complete and reflect the actual requirements of the project.
  • Maintain current estimating records, studies, unit prices, etc.
  • Evaluate and analyze subcontractor proposals in preparation of subcontracts.
  • Participation in the preparation of construction schedule for estimating purposes
  • Responsible for discussing staffing requirements with operations in preparation of building a project team
  • Actively participates in the focus of continuous improvement of the business.
  • Identify new work opportunities and inform Sales and Marketing of potential projects with current clients.
  • Support Business Development in proposal presentations, interviews etc., and supports Sales/Marketing in building General Contractor and Architect/Engineer relationships
  • Coordinate with marketing on the assembly of preconstruction materials for presentation purposes

Requirements:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 5-10 years of estimating experience related to commercial and/or industrial projects
  • Must have experience with large commercial and industrial projects (concept to close-out)
  • Strong computer software skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Particularly Excel)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong employment stability
  • Knowledge of Accubid
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit
