Position Overview

Experienced Heavy Civil Estimator with a proven track record of delivering timely, accurate cost proposals for large-scale infrastructure projects across the Central United States. Demonstrates deep understanding of bid-build, design-build, and Engineer, Procure, Construct (EPC) methodologies with hands-on estimating experience for heavy civil scopes including structural concrete, grading, utilities, drainage, water/wastewater, and transportation infrastructure. Skilled in conceptual estimating, quantity takeoffs, cost analysis, and working with multi-disciplinary teams to develop competitive and compliant proposals. 

District Overview

Aligns well with Kiewit's Central District portfolio-specializing in self-perform operations, including mass grading, paving, structural bridge concrete, and complex heavy civil scopes. Experienced in producing estimates under aggressive timelines and navigating complex specifications, with a focus on constructability and risk mitigation.

Location

Open to supporting infrastructure projects based out of Dallas / Westlake, TX, with availability to travel to job sites across the South Central U.S., as needed for preconstruction site investigations, walkdowns, and field verifications. 

Responsibilities

   Develop pricing strategies and cost summaries based on contract documents, conceptual plans, and site conditions. 

   Analyze plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and addenda to fully understand project scope and potential risk items. 

   Conduct jobsite investigations to identify access constraints, material haul distances, and unique conditions impacting cost. 

   Collaborate with engineers and operations teams to align estimating approaches with means and methods of construction. 

   Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes for completeness, scope alignment, and competitiveness. 

   Maintain and update historical cost databases, productivity metrics, and unit pricing based on regional performance. 

   Participate in peer reviews and bid strategy sessions, providing input on construction phasing, schedule impact, and resource requirements. 

   Remain current with industry trends, material cost fluctuations, equipment capabilities, and construction innovations. 

   Support constructability reviews and VE proposals in pursuit and preconstruction phases. 

   Bluebeam, Trimble, HCSS HeavyBid, On-Screen Takeoff, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint 

   Familiar with scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) for cost-loaded schedule input and time-based estimating

Qualifications
  •    2+ years of construction experience with at least 2+ years directly in civil/heavy civil estimating. 

       Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred. 

       Strong knowledge of specifications, bid documents, contract terms, and field-based construction logistics. 

       Proven ability to interpret engineering drawings, develop constructability plans, and produce competitive estimates under tight deadlines. 

       Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills in fast-paced environments. 

       Committed to safety, quality, and operational excellence throughout the preconstruction process.
