Job Description:
Job Summary:
Plans, oversees and directs all phases of construction projects; may have direct reports, including, but not limited to, assistant project managers/estimators, and superintendents.
Main Responsibilities:
• Embrace the Company's safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Simon Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
• Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
• Partner with management teams to effectively utilize all resources, including personnel in order to complete assigned construction projects
• Attend preconstruction meetings and weekly progress meetings
• Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel and subcontractors; communicate with engineers, inspectors, suppliers, etc.
• Ensure timely delivery of materials
• Schedule utility locates as required
• Monitor traffic control on projects and meet all reporting requirements
• Maintain a project diary and provide project updates to management
• Ensure the company complies OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulations and reporting requirements
• Coordinate with project superintendents, project engineers, and foreman to ensure targets and deadlines are met
• Prepare and maintain time-phase charts, subcontracts, purchase orders, material orders, and schedules
• Prepare documents related to project planning and construction
• Make decisions concerning equipment needs, sequence of operations, and required staffing
• Maintain effective working relationships and effectively communicate with subcontractors and company business departments; support other department personnel as required
• Identify cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts
• Promote and facilitate employee training, mentoring, and development for assigned direct reports; address performance concerns as needed
• Safely operate company vehicles and/or equipment
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering or equivalent combination of education and work experience
• Valid Driver's License and clean driving history required
Skills:
• 3+ years of progressive experience in construction operations, project management/estimating or related role
• Background in heavy highway, municipal, and/or commercial construction preferred
• HCSS, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam and/or similar program experience preferred
• Proficiency in use of computers and mobile devices (Android/iOS), including MS Office programs required
Physical Requirements:
• Wears and maintains required PPE (personal protective equipment) to ensure safe performance of job responsibilities as required
• Regularly lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds with or without assistance to handle documents, equipment, and materials needed to support office and field-related operations
• Regularly uses hands to feel, handle, and manipulate objects, write, and operate a keyboard and/or mobile device to complete administrative tasks, documentation, and communication duties
• Regularly communicates (talks and hears) and uses visual acuity to exchange information, coordinate work, and review documents and plans necessary for project oversight
• Regularly operates a vehicle to travel to and from work sites to perform inspections, attend meetings, and support project activities
• Regularly sits for long periods at a desk using a computer to perform administrative, planning, and reporting responsibilities
• Frequently stands or works on feet for extended periods and walks across uneven terrain to navigate construction sites safely
• Frequently stands, walks, sits, reaches, and stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls to access work areas and complete required tasks
• Frequently works in environments that may include loud noise, moving equipment, dust, or varying indoor/outdoor conditions depending on operational needs
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and overtime; overnight travel may be required
