Position Overview:
As our Manufacturing Engineer, you will lead cross-functional collaboration while designing models and technical drawings, supporting production activities, and ensuring electromechanical systems are assembled, tested, and inspected to meet customer and operational requirements.

On-site in Lynchburg, VA at the Advanced Technologies Office
Your Day to Day as a Manufacturing Engineer:
  • Lead and coordinate activities with customers, internal and external suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  • Create design models and detailed drawings using Solidworks CAD software and other design methods.
  • Work closely with purchasing, production, and other teams to ensure design work meets requirements.
  • Provide engineering support involving assembly, testing and inspection of electromechanical components and systems.
  • Lead and assist in the development and qualification of advanced manufacturing technologies.
  • Support assembling prototype and production equipment.
  • Write manufacturing/assembly plans, procedures, and instructions as well as assist with testing/qualification reports.
  • Support engineering procurement efforts and control of tooling.
  • Support Operations (hand tools, power tools, machining equipment, and automated equipment).
  • Inspect and characterize components.
  • Provide other engineering and manufacturing support tasks as required.

Required Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, or similar discipline) or physics is required.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of related experience is required.
  • Must have knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.
  • Must have general knowledge of project engineering activities (task plans, schedules, etc.).
  • Must have hands-on manufacturing experience for industrial equipment and familiarity with both traditional and advanced manufacturing methods.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to communicate with teams of technical people.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to effectively prepare and deliver technical reports and presentations.
  • Must have knowledge of relevant codes and standards.
  • Must be a strong team player with the ability to develop effective relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers.
  • Experience with manufacturing for nuclear reactor applications is desired, but not
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required.

Pay: $76,000.00 - $119,000.00
The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $76,000.00 and $119,000.00 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,' unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
