Position Summary:
The RN Clinic, Pediatrics provides comprehensive nursing care to infants, children, and adolescents within an outpatient pediatric clinic setting. This role performs age-appropriate patient assessments, supports diagnostic and treatment activities, and delivers education to patients and families to promote healthy growth, development, and effective disease management. Working collaboratively with pediatric providers and interdisciplinary care partners, the RN helps coordinate care, support timely follow-up, and maintain a welcoming, family-centered clinical environment. The position functions within a supportive pediatric care team where communication, compassion, and teamwork are essential. Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct pediatric-focused assessments, administer immunizations and medications, and assist providers with exams, treatments, and minor procedures.
- Coordinate patient flow, diagnostic testing, referrals, and follow-up appointments to support timely and comprehensive pediatric care.
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient/family education accurately in the electronic health record in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
- Educate patients and caregivers on wellness, disease prevention, medication use, developmental milestones, and management of acute or chronic pediatric conditions.
- Collaborate with pediatricians, specialty providers, and ancillary teams to address changes in condition, support care transitions, and ensure continuity across services.
- Participate in quality improvement activities, maintain competency in point-of-care testing, and complete required training to support clinical readiness in pediatric practice.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
- Current or temporary RN license in ND or compact RN licensure.
- CPR required within orientation period.
- Ongoing Point of Care certifications as required for department required within orientation period.
Educational Requirements:
- RN program as evidenced by licensure.
- BSN preferred.
Experience Requirements:
- One year or more of professional nursing experience preferred.
- Clinic experience preferred.
- Coding experience preferred.
Special Skills or Training Requirements:
- May include travel to satellites.
- Computer use.
- Trinity community clinics - draw and package lab tests.
Physical Requirements:
The RN Clinic, Pediatrics frequently stands, walks, and moves between exam rooms while assisting pediatric patients and supporting clinic operations. The role may involve bending, lifting, or carrying supplies, equipment, and occasionally supporting children who require physical assistance or reassurance. Adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity are essential for performing precise assessments, administering immunizations, and safely managing pediatric equipment.
Environmental Requirements:
Work occurs in an outpatient pediatric clinic with routine exposure to children presenting with infectious illnesses and variable developmental or behavioral needs. The role may involve handling laboratory specimens, working with disinfectants, and maintaining strict adherence to infection-control and PPE protocols. The pace may fluctuate with patient volume and acuity, requiring flexibility, patience, and attention to safety, confidentiality, and regulatory standards.
