What is a precious metals dealer?

A Precious Metals Dealer buys and sells gold, silver, platinum, and other valuable metals. They evaluate market trends, assess the authenticity and value of metals, and negotiate with clients or businesses. Dealers may work independently, for investment firms, or in jewelry and coin businesses. Their role requires knowledge of metal pricing, economic factors affecting the market, and secure transaction practices.

What does a typical workday look like for a precious metals dealer?

A typical day for a Precious Metals Dealer involves monitoring precious metal market trends, analyzing price fluctuations, and executing buy or sell orders for clients or the firm. You may spend time appraising physical metals, negotiating with suppliers, ensuring regulatory compliance, and advising clients on investment options. Collaboration with team members in sales, compliance, and logistics is common, especially when managing large transactions or client portfolios. The work environment is often fast-paced and requires quick decision-making to capitalize on market opportunities. Staying informed and adaptable is key to success in this dynamic field.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a precious metals dealer?

To thrive as a Precious Metals Dealer, strong analytical skills, knowledge of financial markets, and expertise in evaluating precious metals are essential, often supported by relevant finance or business qualifications. Familiarity with trading platforms, pricing software, and certifications such as Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance are typically required. Excellent negotiation, communication, and customer service skills help build client trust and manage high-value transactions. These abilities are crucial for navigating volatile markets, mitigating risks, and establishing a reputable presence in the industry.

Job description

Company Description

National Gold Group is Hawaiiโ€™s #1-rated Precious Metals dealer and one of Consumer Affairs' highest-rated firms nationwide. Weโ€™ve moved over $100 million in physical precious metals โ€” and weโ€™re just getting started. Job Description

Elite Closers for Hawaiiโ€™s Top Sales Team

National Gold Group is looking for driven sales professionals with at least 2 years of experience in inside sales, telemarketing, or a related role. Strong communication and closing skills are essential, along with the ability to build rapport quickly over the phone. A background in finance or comfort discussing financial concepts is a plus, as is a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.

In this role, you will be connecting with warm leads and qualified prospects by phone to introduce them to the benefits of investing in precious metals. Your day-to-day will include outbound calls, following up with interested investors, answering questions, and guiding them through the process of diversifying with gold and silver. Youโ€™ll work closely with our Sr. Account Executives to schedule appointments, move clients through the sales pipeline, and ensure a smooth customer experience from first contact to close.
