Requisition ID:
R027885
Job Description:
YOUR MISSION
As an Artist, Game Capture, you will create high-quality gameplay capture and visual assets that support Activision's marketing, social, and campaign needs. This is a hands-on creative role for an experienced capture artist who can lead live capture sessions, build custom scenes using development tools, shape shot design in pre-production, and execute polished in-game visuals with a strong eye for storytelling.
You will partner closely with creative leads and cross-functional teams to translate campaign goals into compelling gameplay moments and sequences. Success in this role means being able to jump into active projects, direct capture with confidence, solve technical problems quickly, and consistently deliver work that is visually strong, on brand, and production ready.
This role is based in our Los Angeles (Pen Factory) office and follows an onsite work schedule of Monday through Thursday. Work arrangements may change at the company's discretion to meet business needs.
We are looking for unique creative voices from varied backgrounds to help our work truly stand out. Priorities for this role include, but are not limited to, the following responsibilities:
  • Lead and direct live gameplay capture sessions from prep through execution.
  • Utilize proprietary development tools, game engines, and editor toolsets to build custom scenes, moments, and cinematic gameplay setups for marketing assets.
  • Partner with creative leadership during pre-production to develop visual approaches, ideate concepts, and create shot lists that support campaign goals.
  • Capture high-quality gameplay footage and screenshots with a strong command of composition, lighting, camera movement, pacing, and visual storytelling.
  • Own capture workflows with a high level of autonomy, balancing creative quality, efficiency, and production needs.
  • Research and help develop new capture techniques, processes, tools, and workflows that improve creative output and team efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues across game builds, capture environments, and workstations to keep productions moving.
  • Work with debug systems and in-engine controls to achieve specific creative beats and shot requirements.
  • Collaborate with editors, producers, the music team, and creative stakeholders to ensure captured assets are organized, usable, and aligned to deliverable needs.
  • Maintain a high bar for craft, consistency, and execution across a wide range of marketing content.

Player Profile
Minimum Requirements
Experience
  • 3-5 years of professional game capture experience creating gameplay-driven marketing or promotional assets, or real-time cinematics. Equivalent experience demonstrating exceptional game capture capability will also be considered.
  • Experience leading capture sessions or independently owning capture assignments from planning through final delivery.
  • Experience working in fast-paced creative, agency, entertainment, or game production environments with shifting priorities and deadlines.

Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong understanding of cinematography, including composition, lighting, camera movement, framing, and visual storytelling.
  • Real-world knowledge of lighting, lenses, camera systems, and on-set shooting principles.
  • Knowledge of game engine animation and/or camera sequencing tools such as Unreal Sequencer, Unity Cinemachine, or similar proprietary systems.
  • Experience working in Adobe Premiere Pro or other professional video editing software.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills with the ability to solve issues related to game builds, tools, capture setups, and hardware.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with creative, production, and cross-functional partners.

Key Attributes
  • Self-directed and proactive, with the judgment to take ownership of projects and move work forward.
  • Strong creative instincts with the ability to translate direction into compelling visual execution.
  • Calm, resourceful, and detail-oriented under pressure.

Extra Points
  • Experience with Call of Duty game capture.
  • Experience capturing first-person shooter gameplay.
  • Real-world background in cinematography or photography.
  • Knowledge of color theory and image finishing fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with 3D software such as Blender or Maya.
  • Experience with screenshot capture workflows and still-image composition.
