As a company, we constantly challenge what's possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.
Role Summary
Rivian is seeking a dynamic, results-oriented leader for the role of Assistant Manager, RPO (Rivian Pre-Owned) Sales. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and is energized by the opportunity to help build and scale a growing business. The Assistant Manager, RPO (Rivian Pre-Owned) Sales will support daily inside sales operations, team performance, customer experience, and sales execution while helping drive accountability across key business metrics.
This leader will play a critical role in creating a highly productive, customer-first environment where RPO Advisors are well trained, motivated, and equipped to deliver a meaningful and memorable experience. The ideal candidate brings strong sales and coaching capability, operational discipline, and a flexible, solution-oriented mindset. This role will also serve as a key partner across field, delivery, and cross-functional teams to ensure a seamless end-to-end customer journey from initial engagement through delivery.
Responsibilities
  • Support execution of sales strategies that drive revenue growth, customer conversion, retention, and market share.
  • Help lead daily sales operations and customer inbound activity, ensuring team performance goals are achieved across daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual metrics.
  • Establish, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate team productivity, customer satisfaction, and sales effectiveness, while identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and coaching to the RPO Sales team, fostering a culture of accountability, performance, and continuous improvement.
  • Train, onboard, and develop new RPO Advisors, ensuring they build strong product knowledge, sales capability, systems fluency, and confidence in supporting customers throughout the purchase journey.
  • Clearly communicate goals and expectations, linking individual and team performance to customer satisfaction, revenue generation, and broader organizational objectives.
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction through timely follow-up, effective communication, strong product knowledge, and consistent sales support.
  • Act as a point of escalation for complex customer issues, working through customer concerns with urgency, empathy, and sound judgment to drive strong outcomes and preserve the customer experience.
  • Implement and reinforce disciplined sales cycle processes to ensure consistency, efficiency, and operational excellence across all customer interactions.
  • Partner closely with on-site delivery teams to ensure smooth deliveries, strong customer handoffs, and alignment across the end-to-end ownership journey.
  • Build strong cross-functional partnerships with delivery, field sales, operations, inventory, customer engagement, and other internal stakeholders to improve process flow and elevate the customer experience.
  • Collaborate with leadership on process improvements, staffing support, business priorities, and daily operational execution.
  • Leverage CRM tools, digital commerce platforms, and internal systems to help advisors move customers effectively through the sales funnel.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of customer preferences, market demand, and business trends, and share insights that help inform strategy and improve performance.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, team effectiveness, and cost-conscious execution.
  • Represent and reinforce Rivian's culture and values in every aspect of team leadership, customer engagement, and business operations.
  • Support special projects, new initiatives, events, and other assignments as needed across the Commercial organization.

Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience in sales, customer service, retail, hospitality, call center, or related customer-facing environments.
  • 1+ years of leadership experience with a proven ability to coach, develop, and motivate high-performing teams.
  • Experience in inside sales, direct-to-consumer sales, automotive, retail, or contact center environments strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success working in a metrics-driven environment with accountability for customer experience, sales performance, and operational results.
  • Strong ability to train and develop new employees, reinforce standards, and drive consistent execution.
  • Proven ability to manage customer escalations and resolve issues in a professional, customer-centric manner.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with the ability to build relationships, influence partners, and achieve results across teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in using sales data and performance metrics to inform decisions.
  • Experience with CRM, POS, and other sales or customer management systems.
  • Ability to multitask, stay organized, and execute effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain local sales licenses if applicable in your state.
  • Passion for delivering a best-in-class customer experience preferred.
  • Strong coaching presence with a hands-on leadership style preferred.
