Amazon’s Data Centers are industry leading examples of innovation in the areas of security, safety, space utilization, efficiency, and cost effectiveness. We are the global team responsible for the construction of the Amazon owned sites. Our Construction Managers are on the forefront of creating and delivering the most innovative products to our customers; and are known for changing the face of cloud computing.

As a Sr Pre-Construction Manager you will support the development and implementation of a Pre-Construction program execution across the nation over multitude of campuses. This role will serve as the primary liaison between Real Estate, Design Engineering, Due Diligence, and other critical partner teams from initial planning, through design development to provide schedule forecasting, construction budgeting, and constructability guidance. Our goal is to find the candidate with extensive practical construction experience with bidding, contracting, construction documents, industry infrastructure, design, and engineering.

Key job responsibilities
  • Be Amazon’s construction representative on multiple data centers building and capital improvement construction project sites from Due Diligence Phase through hand-off to Construction Management.
  • Direct interface with construction general contractors during the construction bidding and award.
  • Create construction project Scope of Work (SOW) and Request for Proposals (RFP).
  • Conduct negotiations with general contractors and evaluate bids and proposals with detail and accuracy.
  • Manage and drive cost, schedule, and quality while managing construction contractors and vendors.
  • Perform pre-construction project management activities, including management of documents, submittals, RFIs, change orders, invoices, quality, scope, and schedule.
  • Drive construction teams to troubleshoot and perform root-cause failure analysis on equipment failures.
  • Support capital request creation.
  • Analyze and report construction progress and financials.
  • Record and report key construction metrics to team members and management.
  • Contribute to construction initiatives aimed at improving construction efficiency and increasing data center resiliency.
  • Provide constructability reviews for civil, structural, electrical and mechanical designs for new or optimization of existing data centers.
  • Be a leader within the group, and within internal and external data center support teams.

Basic Qualifications
  • Experience in construction management or construction program management of large, complex projects involving large-scale mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) plants
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Experience in construction of data center delivery (design, commissioning and construction), mission critical facilities, or equivalent industrial/manufacturing facility builds
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience constructing electrical engineering systems including large scale power distribution/generation gear and mechanical engineering systems including cooling systems
  • Experience in project control (cost or schedule, or both) and formulating construction programmes, especially for infrastructure and mission critical projects both on-site and in preconstruction environments

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
