For each trade, non-journey level employees may be placed in apprenticeship programs that offer individuals new to the industry On the Job Training (OJT) opportunities. The recruitment process will include a pre-employment physical and drug screen.


Equipment Operator

A pre-employment physical and drug screen are required. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Operator responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Operating various pieces of heavy equipment
  • Loading and unloading materials and equipment
  • Performing general maintenance and inspection of equipment
  • Working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Working at heights with the use of mobile equipment and ladders
  • Often required to stand, handle/feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, talk or hear. Occasionally, the work requires the employee to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Works safely near and around highway traffic and noisy operations
  • Ability to lift or carry up to up to 30 or 50 lbs., and occasionally up to 100 lbs
