Summary:
The Clean Tech Pre-Apprentice (Part-Time) role is part of Goodwill South Florida's innovative workforce training model, designed to prepare participants for careers in clean energy and skilled trades. This position serves as a companion to Goodwill's blended training approach, combining classroom instruction with hands-on, real-world application through an integrated workforce training lab. Will build technical competencies while gaining structured, work-based learning experience across Goodwill facilities and/or partner organizations. This "practice-before-placement" model is designed to increase job readiness, competency, and successful transition into employment or Registered Apprenticeship programs.Will provide on-the-job training at work locations where they will practice theTechnical Training and use their Industry-Recognized Credentials to perform work assignments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive maintenance.
- Assist with installations.
- Support energy efficiency and building system upgrades across facilities.
- Participate in structured work-based learning (up to 30 hours per week) during the specified time.
- Complete 40 hours of additional nonpaid VR-based lab training.
- Adhere to safety standards learned in the OSHA training.
- Demonstrate proper use of tools, materials, and PPE.
- Practice the career readiness and employability skills learned in prior training.
- Maintain confidentiality and data security at all times.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and confidential documentation of participant information in required databases, forms, and reports.
- Comply with agency policies, procedures, and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Completion of the Goodwill South Florida workforce lab training program is required.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Interest in clean energy, HVAC, or skilled trades careers.
- Ability to commit to structured training and attendance expectations.
