Procedure Room RN

The Procedure Room RN provides comprehensive nursing care within an outpatient endoscopy center, supporting patients throughout the pre-admission testing, pre-procedure, procedure, and recovery processes. This role performs preoperative assessments, ensures patients are medically optimized and prepared for their procedure, assists in the procedure rooms, and supports safe, efficient patient care across the center's three procedure rooms.

The Procedure Room RN collaborates closely with CRNAs, proceduralists, and the clinical team to promote patient safety, provide education, identify potential risks, and ensure a seamless patient experience throughout the endoscopy journey.

This position is cross-trained to support multiple clinical areas, including Pre-Admission Testing (PAT), pre-op, PACU, and procedure rooms, providing flexibility and coverage to meet the needs of the center.

• Monday-Friday • No nights, weekends, holidays, or call

• Perform thorough pre-admission and pre-procedure nursing assessments, including medical history review, medication reconciliation, and verification of required testing and documentation • Identify abnormal findings and communicate concerns to CRNAs, proceduralists, and appropriate members of the care team • Ensure all pre-procedure documentation is complete, accurate, and available prior to the patient's procedure • Provide nursing care and support in the procedure rooms, assisting with safe and efficient endoscopy procedures • Provide patient care throughout the pre-op and PACU phases, including monitoring, recovery, discharge preparation, and patient education • Educate patients and families regarding the endoscopy experience, expectations, preparation, recovery, and discharge instructions • Collaborate with CRNAs, proceduralists, and the clinical team to ensure patient readiness and continuity of care • Maintain patient privacy, dignity, safety, and age-appropriate care throughout the patient experience • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff education, orientation, and ongoing professional development • Demonstrate flexibility by supporting various clinical areas and adjusting workloads based on the needs of the center • Maintain competency across Pre-Admission Testing, pre-op, PACU, and procedure room responsibilities.

Obtain and maintain competency in moderate sedation monitoring and safely monitor patients during applicable procedures.

• Active RN license in Ohio • Current BLS and ACLS certification • Associate's degree or higher in nursing • Pre-op, PACU, procedure room, endoscopy, ambulatory surgery center, or critical-care experience preferred • Strong assessment skills and ability to recognize and communicate changes in patient condition • Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient advocacy and teamwork • Ability to work collaboratively with CRNAs, proceduralists, and multidisciplinary clinical teams • Comfort using EMR systems and Microsoft Windows-based programs • Willingness and ability to cross-train and provide support throughout the outpatient endoscopy center

• Frequent standing, walking, and patient-care activities • Ability to lift/move up to 30 lbs (occasionally up to 40 lbs; rarely up to 100 lbs) • Regular interaction with patients of varying ages in a fast-paced outpatient clinical environment • Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and chemical hazards consistent with the healthcare setting • Moderate noise typical of clinical and administrative areas
