Job description

Summary of Position

Help lead the Summit Kids Ministry at Capital Hills under the direction of the Kids Director - building relationships with families and providing the resources they need to grow. This role oversees weekend execution (Thursday and Sunday), which means recruiting, coordinating, and leading large teams of volunteers with administrative precision. The campus staff works as a team to do whatever it takes for the well-being of the campus, so there are responsibilities beyond Kids Ministry in conjunction with the broader team.

  • Ability to lead and disciple volunteers and families
  • Ability to recruit, maintain, and coordinate large numbers of volunteers
  • High administrative skills
  • Supervising/management experience
  • Ability to prioritize team and mission needs over personal preference, evidenced by past ministry or work experience
  • A member of The Summit Church or willing and able to become a member

Responsibilities

  • Campus Responsibilities
    • Ensure adherence to the Summit Kids EPOD
    • Seek out and facilitate outreach opportunities for Summit Kids families (local school partnerships, serving opportunities, family mission trips, etc.)
    • Actively participate in all Summit Kids related campus events and contribute significantly to whatever the event requires
    • Attend weekly campus and Summit Kids staff meetings
    • Flexibility to any needs of the campus as directed by the Kids Director.
  • Weekend Execution
    • Oversee weekend service execution, in partnership with the Summit Kids team
    • Ensure volunteer teams are full and all ministries are covered for Thursday and Sunday Summit Kids ministry
    • Ensure volunteers are in the correct groups and the kids are in our system correctly through administrative work in Rock (church management system)
    • Manage substitute team
    • Track and follow up on volunteer trends (late call-outs, late arrivals, no-shows)
    • Teach on an as-needed basis (typically covering last-minute volunteer gaps).
    • Support volunteers in dealing with difficult discipline cases in classrooms
  • Project Management
    • Develop event timelines for campus events owned by the Summit Kids team.
    • Promote and communicate Summit Kids events
    • Coordinate agendas for event-based meetings to keep planning on time
  • Central Responsibilities
    • Attend bi-weekly kids meeting
    • Participate in church wide events

Churchwide Events

The hours for this position are expected to be 40 hours per week. As one church that meets in many locations, there are several times throughout the year that Summit holds church-wide events in an effort to do whatever it takes to reach all people. All staff members are expected to serve at these church-wide events regardless of the positions they hold.

Such events include, but are not limited to: Easter services, church-wide prayer meetings, Good Friday service, and Christmas services. Serving expectations will be communicated in advance of each event.
