Job description

Purpose of Position: To support and facilitate quality improvement with programs in Quality Counts. Provide guidance and support in implementing best practices in early childhood education utilizing coaching and mentoring with teachers and directors.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a productive relationship/partnership with the program director and teachers based on mutual respect and trust.
  • Support program directors with completing paperwork and collecting evidence required before the classroom assessment is completed.
  • Deliver the Star Rating report.
  • Guide the program director to develop a Quality Improvement Plan with mutually agreed upon goals that are designed to support quality improvement.
  • Coach, mentor, and consult with directors and teachers as needed through the continuous quality improvement loop.
  • Conduct classroom visits to include observations, room arrangement, modeling and feedback to teachers and program director.
  • Conduct training and attend professional development. This could include overnight travel.
  • Maintain records, reports, and data per SCFS and QC guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree or higher in Early Childhood/Child Development (or a related human services field) and two years of experience in child care
  • Must be knowledgeable of research based theory, best practice-methodology of coaching principles, and current child care policy issues
  • Must have strong written, oral communication skills, and good command of WORD and computer skills
  • Prefer TAP certification, SC certified trainer status, training in SCPITC, ASQ-3, ITERS, ECERS-3, and CLASS
