Job Summary

Provides pre-order onsite and phone/email technical and commercial application support in
in effort to grow sales at End-user, OEM, Distributor and System Integrator accounts and
meet the Company's sales objectives.

Job Description

  • Provide technical sales and application support to the Nidec Drives field sales staff promoting sales of Products and Services to meet the Company's sales objectives.
  • assist and/or take a lead role in demonstrating Nidec Drives products to customers. Must be proficient in all current products and application sold in the Region, which includes Motion Control, High performance and General-purpose applications including pumping in irrigation and municipal application.
  • Be proficient in sizing drive, motor and peripheral devices for effective use in application of the Company's products.
  • Prepare Training and Sales Presentations that demonstrate the Company's capabilities to handle a customer's application(s), which may also require the development of demonstration systems.
  • Assist field sales personnel and customers with the selection of the Company's products that best fit the application requirements, including the mentoring of other Control Techniques sales and technical team members.
  • Assist customers with developing software programs to operate complex machinery. In some cases, completely develop the program from concept including debug and trouble-shoot to completion.
  • Support greater engineering organization by contributing to Technical Support and Field Service needs via email, phone, ticket responses, and site visits.
  • Makes scheduled on-site visits to OEM, Distributor, and User accounts to gain insight, gather technical data, and provide guidance in the application and selection of the Company's Products and Services. Travel required throughout the region.
  • TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS Expect 25%-50%

Customers

  • Work with all customer types, integrators, OEM's, End user's, distributors, etc.
  • Both by phone and at work at customer sites

Travel

  • Throughout Region, Region defined areas.
  • Occasional other states, as customer situations dictate, and national sales meetings
  • Overnight travel expected 1 or 2 x per month.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Education and Qualifications

  • Four year technical engineering degree BSE, BSEE, BSEET, BSME, BSMET required or equivalent.
  • Five years + of engineering/selling automation solutions. Experience with Drives and/or Motion Control is highly preferred, including PLC's and motion controller
  • Proficient in Motion Control Programming with both servo drive systems and vector drive systems. Familiarity with IEC61131 programming platforms.
  • Experienced in implementing servo drives and VFD's
  • Familiarity with industrial communications protocols, including EtherCAT, Ethernet IP, Mobus, and Profinet.
