Is it hard to become a PR manager?

Becoming a PR manager typically requires several years of experience in public relations, communications, or related fields, along with strong interpersonal and media skills. THE ROLE

AMD is seeking a Client Public Relations (PR) Manager to lead tactical PR programs supporting Client Computing and Graphics product launches, reviews, and momentum campaigns. This role partners closely with regional PR teams to coordinate consumer client and graphics communications globally, with direct responsibility for North America.

Working alongside the Computing and Graphics PR Director, the PR Manager will cultivate and support relationships with media, bloggers, content creators, YouTubers, and industry influencers to drive positive coverage, reinforce key product messages, and amplify AMD thought leadership.

Internally, this role collaborates with business units and marketing teams to develop messaging, content, and communications strategies that support product launches and ongoing campaigns. The overall objective is to maximize positive editorial coverage and engagement across North America and globally.

This position also oversees press sampling and review program strategy across the Client and Graphics portfolios, ensuring alignment between business objectives, marketing priorities, and regional execution.

You bring strong judgment, organizational skills, and influence, enabling you to align stakeholders around shared objectives and execute effectively. You balance global consistency with regional needs and are motivated by creating processes and frameworks that drive results.

In this role, you will help strengthen AMD’s external storytelling, elevate awareness of our technology leadership, and improve alignment between internal priorities and market-facing communications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead PR activities supporting client, gaming, and graphics product launches and ongoing momentum campaigns.
  • Partner with business units and marketing teams to develop PR-ready storylines, messaging, and thought leadership opportunities.
  • Support competitive intelligence and issue readiness by helping anticipate narratives and align internal responses.
  • Manage product review programs for CPUs, graphics cards, and AMD-led OEM/SI systems, including review logistics, sample allocation, testing coordination, and hands-on reviewer support.
  • Maintain strong relationships with North American media, content creators, reviewers, and influencers to drive positive coverage and advocacy.
  • Provide technical support and engagement for reviewers during launch review programs and ongoing product evaluations.
  • Support OEM- and SI-led announcements and reviews for AMD-powered laptops and desktop PCs.
  • Develop and execute creative communications programs, review opportunities, and awareness-driving initiatives.
  • Advise product and marketing teams on press engagement strategies, competitive positioning, and review program best practices.
  • Coordinate with regional PR teams to ensure alignment, consistency, and readiness across global campaigns while representing regional requirements.
  • Monitor competitive activity and market trends to inform PR strategy and stakeholder guidance.
  • Support media events, including press briefings, interviews, tradeshows, and press tours.
  • Develop PR materials including press releases, pitches, Q&As, talking points, blogs, bylines, and other communications assets.
  • Support additional projects and initiatives as needed.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Significant experience in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong technical aptitude, gaming awareness, and interest in the computing and graphics industry.
EDUCATION
