Overview
The Regional PR & Communications Manager will play a pivotal role in elevating the Highgate Hawaii regional portfolio by executing impactful, demand-generating property PR & communications initiatives. This role is responsible for overseeing and evolving the individual PR & communications strategies to meet each property's business, reputation and brand visibility objectives, while also serving as the property and regional brand ambassador. The Regional PR & Communications Manager guides proactive media relations, strategic storytelling, and community engagement, while developing and executing PR and communication strategies that elevate brand visibility and demand-generating narratives across local, national, and international traditional and emerging media landscapes. This role manages relationships with media and influencers/creators, works closely with the region's marketing leaders for full-funnel campaigns, and on-property operations and department leaders to support property positioning within Hawai'i's competitive hospitality landscape. This role will also develop and oversee PR and communications partnerships and AORs, brand messaging and guest programming, and positively contribute to enhancing guest satisfaction and team culture.
Responsibilities
Media Relations
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local, national, and international travel, lifestyle, and business/trade media
  • Write and distribute press releases, media alerts, pitches, and byline articles
  • Field and manage inbound media inquiries; coordinate interviews, site visits, and press stays
  • Track media coverage and compile regular reporting on placements, reach, and sentiment
  • Manage partner agencies on a daily basis, including the management of the scopes of work, deliverables, channel strategy and performance
  • Identify, vet, coordinate, and manage on-property media visits, press tours, and FAM trips to secure earned media coverage and positive exposure; track deliverables and performance

Strategic Communications
  • Develop PR strategies and campaigns that align with overall marketing and business goals and seasonal priorities (openings, renovations, culinary launches, events, luau/entertainment programming)
  • Craft key messaging and talking points for executives, spokespeople, and department leads
  • Partner with Marketing on integrated campaigns spanning earned, owned, and paid channels

Influencer & Partnership Marketing
  • Coordinate hosted stays, experiences, and content collaborations that align with brand standards
  • Identify, vet, coordinate, and manage on-property influencer/creator stays and activations that align with the resort's brand values and audience; track deliverables and performance

Content & Brand Storytelling
  • Partner with the marketing team on content that supports PR narratives (photography, video, blog, social)
  • Maintain a repository of brand assets, fact sheets, executive bios, and press kits
  • Ensure consistent brand voice and messaging across all external communications
  • Support planning and execution of photo and video shoots on property, ensuring alignment with brand standards and storytelling goals; manage the hotel's photo libraries and public visual identity
  • Collaborate on campaigns that incorporate F&B, spa/wellness, sustainability, and cultural programs to tell a cohesive brand story

Reporting & Presentation
  • Present results, strategies and thought-leadership to ownership and stakeholder groups
  • Serve as a property and brand ambassador; engage in external networking on behalf of the company
  • Provide support in strategic planning, market research, presentation development and any other additional requests as per Senior Management
  • Create monthly reports and monitor effective benchmarks for measuring KPIs / ROIs for all publicity & communications campaigns
  • Monitor trends in media, influencer/creator, affiliate, digital, social, traditional and emerging channels and spaces

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience in the Marketing/Communications industry (hospitality industry essential)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful demand-generation publicity strategies for individual properties, including ROI / KPI metrics
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Canva, Cision, Meltwater, Muckrack
  • Strong presentation and communications skills both verbally and written
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships (e.g. GMs, Sales and Revenue Leaders, Regional Team, Media Representatives, VIPs, Influencers/Creators)
  • Strong project management or organizational skills
  • Ability to organize focused and exclusive events that drive topline revenue and market sentiment/positioning
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format, and build and maintain relationships
  • Knowledge of traditional and emerging media landscape locally, regionally, domestically and internationally
