Pr Internship information

What is a PR internship?

A PR internship is a temporary position, often for students or recent graduates, where individuals gain hands-on experience in public relations. Interns assist PR professionals with tasks such as writing press releases, organizing events, managing social media, and communicating with the media. The internship helps interns develop key skills in communication, media relations, and strategic planning, preparing them for a career in public relations. PR internships are offered by agencies, corporations, and nonprofit organizations, and can be paid or unpaid depending on the employer.

What types of projects and tasks can I expect to work on during a PR internship?

As a PR intern, you'll typically assist with drafting press releases, preparing media lists, monitoring media coverage, and supporting the planning and execution of events or campaigns. You'll also help with research, social media content creation, and maintaining relationships with journalists and influencers. The role is often fast-paced and collaborative, giving you hands-on exposure to both internal communications and external outreach. This experience is designed to build your understanding of public relations strategies while developing valuable communication and organizational skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a PR intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a PR Intern, you need strong written and verbal communication skills, an understanding of media relations, and a relevant degree or coursework in public relations, communications, or a related field. Familiarity with media monitoring tools, press release distribution platforms, and social media management systems is often required. Creativity, attention to detail, adaptability, and teamwork are standout soft skills for this role. These skills and qualities are crucial for effectively supporting PR campaigns, building relationships with media, and contributing to successful communication strategies.

While internships focus on learning and support tasks, specialists handle strategic planning and client interactions.

How to become a PR internship?

To become a PR intern, candidates typically need a bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, or a related field. Gaining skills in writing, media relations, and social media management, along with relevant internships or volunteer experience, can improve chances. Strong communication skills and familiarity with PR tools like press release distribution platforms are also beneficial.

What do you do as a PR internship?

A PR internship involves supporting public relations activities such as drafting press releases, managing media contacts, and assisting with event planning. Job description

Who are we?
J/PR is a global communications firm specializing in public relations, content creation, and social media. We work with some of the best hotels, resorts and lifestyle brands in the world, including Relais & Chateaux, Vail Resorts Hospitality and Hilton Luxury Brands to name a few. Being a part of this international powerhouse agency will connect you to a roster of distinguished hotels, resorts, restaurants, real estate projects, and destinations across the globe, elevating your career (and your frequent flier status). We tell compelling original stories to connect brands to their target audiences. We're passionate, professional, and purpose-driven. We're dedicated to our work, the agency, our clients, and each other.
Forbes said "These Women Are Dictating Where You're Traveling," and Inc. Magazine featured J/PR in an article titled, "How Two Millennial-ish Women Built a PR Powerhouse." This is in addition to numerous awards like PR News Best Places to Work, New York Observer PR Power 5 for five years in a row, The PR Net 100, Forbes Five Star Agency, PR Couture Spotlight Agency of the Year, and Crain's Best Places to Work (to name a few).
