Job Description

Are you passionate about branding, storytelling, graphic design, social media, and content creation? The College of Liberal Arts' Center for Outreach and Engagement and the School of the Arts at the University of Nevada, Reno are seeking a Marketing Assistant for the 26-27 academic year (Fall 2026-Spring 2027). Join us and help showcase the energy, impact, and opportunities within the College of Liberal Arts.

As a Marketing Assistant, you will collaborate with the Marketing and Communications Specialist and the Center for Outreach and Engagement team to bring liberal arts experiences to life through compelling visuals and stories that highlight student engagement, community connections, and research initiatives.

In this role, you will assist with planning, creating, and managing content across social media platforms. Responsibilities may include photographing on-campus events, designing graphics, creating digital content, and helping develop engaging social media campaigns. Marketing Assistants will also contribute to Nevada Today stories and support a variety of college and community events throughout the year.

This position is ideal for a creative, detail-oriented student who enjoys storytelling, content creation, and connecting audiences with meaningful experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the marketing specialist to support graphic design and other content needs
  • Collaborate with the marketing specialist to create College newsletters and surveys
  • Develop and manage social posts and campaigns
  • Inquireinterviews andwritearticles for College achievements (research, awards, etc.)
  • Capture photography and videography duringCollegeevents
  • Assistwith organizing College-wide events
  • Ensure all content aligns with UNR branding, messaging, and storytelling standards
  • Conduct general administrative tasks
  • Attend department meetings or other evening and weekend events asrequired

Required Qualifications

  • Candidate has knowledge of graphic design tools (Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva)
  • Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno
  • Candidate must have excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Candidate must have experience with social media platforms
  • Candidate must have strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced event environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidate must be a Marketing, Journalism, Graphic Design or Communication Studies major
  • Candidate has knowledge of photography/videography skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Prior marketing or public relations experience
  • Prior phone support experience
  • Prior writing experience

Schedule

  • Expected hours to work per week: 10

  • Schedule is flexible depending onstudent'sschedule.

  • We would require students to be available to work shifts during regular business hours:

  • Monday through Friday: 8:00am - 5:00pm

  • Occasional work hourson eveningand weekends, as needed.
