Job description

The THD Retail Sales Associate (RSA) supports the growth and performance of The Pittsburgh Paints Company (PPC) products within assigned The Home Depot (THD) stores. This role focuses on delivering exceptional customer service, executing merchandising standards, conducting product trainings, and strengthening relationships with THD leadership, paint desk associates, PRO Desk teams, and customers.

The RSA serves as a brand advocate, ensuring THD associates are trained, engaged, and confident in recommending PPC products. The role contributes to both DIY and PRO sales growth by executing in‑store activities, maintaining inventory accuracy, and supporting strategic initiatives such as PRO service.

Location: Humacao - Home Depot

Schedule:

This position follows a rotating schedule consisting of one 40-hour workweek followed by one 45-hour workweek. The additional five hours are worked every other Sunday and are compensated at time-and-a-half pay. While the schedule offers a degree of flexibility, shifts are generally scheduled within the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Engagement & Sales Support

  • Engage customers throughout the THD store to identify needs, recommend PPC solutions, and strengthen brand preference.
  • Provide expert guidance on coatings, color tools, surface preparation, and application best practices.
  • Support PRO Desk interactions and assist in identifying opportunities tied to local contractors.
  • Recommend complementary PPC solutions that enhance project outcomes and customer satisfaction.

Training & Brand Advocacy

  • Deliver weekly training sessions to THD associates or PRO customers on PPC products, surface prep, and problem‑solving.
  • Build brand advocates by ensuring THD associates are well‑versed and confident in selling PPC products across all customer segments.
  • Support structured new‑hire training in partnership with the Regional Sales Manager.

Merchandising & Store Execution

  • Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked PPC bays, tinting areas, and displays.
  • Execute weekly cycle counts to ensure accurate inventory levels and support the CAR replenishment system.
  • Identify merchandising opportunities such as end caps, aisle bases, and counter displays to increase visibility.
  • Maintain color centers, sales aides, and Point‑of‑Purchase (POP) materials for all PPC brands.

PRO Support

  • Develop customers, fostering long‑term relationships and loyalty.
  • Maintain consistent communication to understand their needs and connect them with PPC resources.
  • Identify leads and opportunities for PSMs and support PRO growth.

Qualifications

Required

  • Strong customer service and communication skills with an energetic, team‑oriented mindset.
  • Basic computer and internet proficiency.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work flexible retail hours including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Ability to lift 40–60 lbs routinely and up to 80 lbs periodically.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and move product safely.

This position offers a competitive base salary, five hours of weekly overtime compensation, and eligibility for an annual performance-based bonus of up to $7,500.
